The complex processes involved in the day-to-day management of our Overland business are steered by our experienced and international team of experts.

As Head of Overland (m / f), you represent the strategic direction and further development of the Luxembourg location.

Your tasks and responsibilities

Leadership (disciplinary and functional) / Management of the entire Overland department (10 direct reports / 120 indirect reports)

Profit / Loss responsibility

  • Establishing annual budgets and involved master business plans
  • Ongoing Profit and Loss (P&L) control and initiation of required optimizations
  • Identification of internal and external cost saving opportunities in order to ensure competitiveness of the Luxembourgish Kuehne + Nagel Overland departmen
  • Supervising of daily business processes

  • Close cooperation with direct lines like Manager Planning, Customer Service Manager, Sales, Controlling and Tender Management to ensure an efficient and reliable handling of the daily operations
  • Drives proactive suggestions for Change Management
  • Monitoring and controlling of processes, Quality and fulfillment of business requirements
  • Customer Relationship Management aiming for a development to maximize long term benefits for Kuehne + Nagel based on a high customer satisfaction

  • Maintaining close communication to assure a uniform understanding of customer expectations relative to operational solutions, timeline, costs and results
  • Identification and development of new processes in order to expand Kuehne + Nagel’s participation with the customers
  • Continuous Improvement and Risk Management

  • Drives proactive suggestions for continuous improvement and creative solutions
  • Insures risk management has been applied with acceptable results
  • Ensures quality assurance standards are applied to all activity (KPI measurements and comparison)

  • Ensures that all process related documentation, project tolls and project requirements are adhered to within Kuehne + Nagel and value to the processes.
  • Development of new business solutions and intelligent transport routing models.

    Compliance and realization of the pharma & healthcare standards of all activities in their full entity by considering the relevant Good Document Practice (GDP) requirements and guidelines, customer demands and all internal regulations of the KN Lux organization.

    Your skills and experience

  • Formal education in logistics with a very good understanding of the forwarding business or graduated in Transportation and / or Logistics and post-graduated MBA
  • 10 + years experience in Overland or freight forwarding with very good knowledge of pharma & healthcare industry and requirements
  • Experience in people management and ability to motivate and lead people also under pressure
  • Highly motivated, self-confident, creative ( out of the box thinking) yet with analyzing talent and problem solving skills
  • Entrepreneurial and solution-oriented thinking combined with a hands-on mentality
  • Highly customer focused
  • Fluent English; German and other languages are an advantage

    Note : Condition for the conclusion of an employment agreement in the above-mentioned role is the provision of an up-to-date (not older than 3 months) certificate of good conduct as per legislation of 23 July 2016.

    Minimum Qualifications
