SnT is a leading international research and innovation centre in secure, reliable and trustworthy ICT systems and services.

We play an instrumental role in Luxembourg by fueling innovation through research partnerships with industry, boosting R&D investments leading to economic growth, and attracting highly qualified talent.

The University of Luxembourg is seeking to hire a highly motivated researcher in the area of radio resource management and user scheduling for its Interdisciplinary Centre of Security and Trust (SnT), within the Remote Sensing research group, led by Prof. Tonie van Dam.

The group researches single-satellite, constellation and in particular formation flight mission concepts for Earth observation.

Proximity operations with cooperative and noncooperative targets for satellite servicing and debris removal extends our portfolio.

The group partakes in SnT’s space laboratory developments including the 5G SatComLab and the ZeroG lab. We are strengthening the group to reproduce proximity operations of satellites such as rendezvous, propulsion and solar-aerodynamics governed formation flight using distributed autonomy approaches on the ground.

We’re looking for people driven by excellence, excited about innovation, and looking to make a difference. If this sounds like you, you’ve come to the right place!

Your Role...

The successful candidate is expected to perform the following tasks :

  • Investigation of novel multi-satellite flight paradigms such as rendezvous, formation flight and constellation assessment of multi-satellite applications for remote sensing and rendezvous
  • Research algorithms for distributed flight control
  • Development of proximity flight laboratory scenario and develop experimental algorithms accordingly
  • The candidates are expected to actively contribute to the different research projects, either coordinating technical contribution and / or preparing project deliverables
  • Providing assistance in the supervision of PhD students
  • Your Profile...

  • A PhD degree in aerospace engineering
  • Experience in : low earth orbit astrodynamics aerodynamics control engineering attitude control engineering
  • International experience is desirable
  • Sound research track record in the topics listed above
  • Experience with a number of optimization tool
  • Programming skills in MATLAB / SIMULINK, C / C++ and ROS
  • Highly committed, excellent team-worker, and strong critical thinking skills
