The Ops Tech IT Supply Chain organization manages a large suite of supplier portfolios and is responsible for a wide variety of global project initiatives that cross business teams and operations groups within Amazon Fulfillment IT.

Projects vary significantly in complexity, size, and scope and include a wide range of project types, including but not limited to, new business initiatives, new facilities, new products, change management, and life-cycle.

As a Demand Planning Manager, you will be responsible for all forecasting activities associated with customers and IT products.

The Demand Planner creates and maintains forecast models, incorporating business intelligence and forecast information gathered from sources such as new facility build schedules, product lifecycle management and repair requirements across the network.

The Demand Planner is the integration point between customer requirements and supply capability. This position leads the dialogue each month for the demand review and input into the S&OP process.

In this role, responsibilities include but are not limited to :

  • Collaborate with cross functional teams to understand demand forecast drivers, avoid order shortages and excess inventory
  • Assemble and analyze all data pertinent to creating the demand forecast (historical sales, market trends, seasonality, promotions, and inventory levels)
  • Develop demand forecasts at multiple levels of aggregation for multiple time horizons, across multiple regions as part of a demand planning function
  • Utilize historical consumption to convert the consensus chair forecast to component forecast and work with Supply to set inventory targets (including safety stock and max levels)
  • Track, report, and communicate KPIs
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams on new product introduction forecast ramp and product life cycles processes
  • Evolve and maintain documentation and standard operating procedures for demand planning processes and systems
  • Provide input to developing strategies on existing items, new products and product phase-outs
  • Provide proactive professional gap analysis of demand, financial and supply plans
  • Driving operational improvement, change initiatives, root cause analysis and corrective actions to continually improve demand plan quality
  • Use and maintain the Demand Planning software as the primary forecasting system tool
  • Provide input to the Supply Planning organization in developing inventory strategies on existing items, new products, and product phase-outs
  • Bachelors in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, related field or equivalent experience
  • Understanding of Planning, Scheduling & S&OP principles.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment while prioritizing and managing multiple responsibilities
  • Leadership, facilitation skills, strong written and verbal communication skills- to work internally and externally at all levels of management and with peers, computer skills, analytical skills, able to analyze data and draw conclusions & make recommendations, problem solving skills, thorough understanding of financial practices
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills, including strong working knowledge of Excel (including use of lookups, pivot tables, VB, scripting)
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 25%
  • Detailed Knowledge of Demand Planning, ERP / MRP (materials requirements planning) Systems within a Supply Chain Organization
  • APICS, S&OP, or Six Sigma Certification with an understanding of Lean Manufacturing processes
  • EAM or asset management system & Tableau experience
  • Track record driving performance improvement and change management initiatives
  • Several years of experience in supply chain (S&OP, transportation, Inventory management, etc.)
  • Experience of SQL and data-driven decision-making skills
