The Inventory Planning and Control (IPC) team owns Amazon’s global inventory management systems. We build the systems that decide what, when, where, and how much we should buy to meet Amazon’s business goals and to make our customers happy.
We do this for millions of items worth billions of dollars world-wide. Our systems are built entirely in-house, and are on the cutting edge in automated large-
scale business, inventory and supply chain planning and optimization systems. We are on the forefront of supply chain thought leadership and work with some of the best research scientists and software developers in the industry.
We are seeking a passionate, results-oriented Business Intelligence Engineer who thrives on solving complex problems through data.
You will work within our IPC Buying team to determine whether our buying systems are taking optimal decisions for the business.
You will challenge assumptions and look for outliers to identify defects, and work with the IPC teams to get these resolved.
You will also be responsible for generating inventory related insights (using ever-more-automated tools that you will help to develop), reporting these to the highest levels of Retail and IPC leadership, and driving Retail adoption of the new processes.
The position, which sits in the Amazon Luxembourg office, is a highly visible role that requires interaction and critical partnership with senior leaders of Amazon Retail, IPC, Finance, and Operations teams.
Successful candidates will be strong leaders who can prioritize well, communicate clearly, and have a consistent track record of delivery.

In this role you will
Write expert-level SQL that extracts actionable meaning from some of the world’s largest and messiest data sets.
Dive deep to create insights on how well Amazon is taking care of the customer as it relates to product inventory and speed of delivery.
Drive business changes through data insights to improve a wide range of internal products that impact inventory and speed.
Develop improvements and invent new ways to look at data / trends via data and an internal worldwide customer portal.
Interface with retail, operations, pricing, finance partners and help build centralized tools that will allow thousands of our partners better serve Amazon’s customers.
Partner with Data Engineers and Software Engineers to design products and systems to transform and store billions of data items using AWS redshift
Explore / analyze data and work with Product Managers to understand customer behaviors, spot system defects, and benchmark our ability to serve our customers

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Math, Finance, Statistics or related discipline
3+ years' experience as a Data / Business Analyst
Proficiency with data querying or modeling technique with SQL or R
Proficiency in R, Python, MATLAB, or any similar scripting language.
Experience with automated self-service reporting tools
Confidence in dealing with technical and non-technical senior level staff
Ability to operate successfully and independently in a fast-paced environment
Be comfortable with ambiguity and curious to learn new skills
Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Math, Finance, Statistics or related discipline
5+ years’ experience with 2+ years Analytics and Process Improvement-related initiatives
Experience working with cloud data repository services such as AWS redshift
Experience and ability to effectively gather information from multiple data sources
Knowledge and direct experience using business intelligence reporting tools such as Tableau.
