As part of a Research and Technology Organization (RTO), the work of the Environmental Research and Innovation (ERIN) Department tackles some of the major environmental challenges our society is facing today, such as climate change mitigation, ecosystem resilience, sustainable energy systems, the efficient use of renewable resources, and environmental pollution prevention and control.
To this end, the missions of the ERIN department are :

2) To support companies in the implementation of new environmental regulations and advise governments on determining sustainable policies for the future with the objectives of :
She / he will join the Remote Sensing and Natural Resources Modelling group, one of 3 RDI groups in ERIN's Environmental Modelling and Sensing (ENVISION) unit.
This unit carries out impact-driven research, geared towards monitoring, forecasting and predicting environmental systems in a changing world.
She / he will be integrated into an interdisciplinary team of around 50 scientists, engineers, post-docs and PhD candidates supporting the public and private sectors by developing new process understanding, alongside new environmental management tools and technologies, operating at unprecedented spatial and temporal scales.
We are looking for a Group Leader to manage a group presently composed of 15 researchers, engineers, and PhD students. Its RDI activities focus on the integration of advanced remote sensing technologies (satellite, airborne, drone, ground), geoinformation science tools and environmental models for the assessment, monitoring and management of natural resources, from the local to the global scale.
The group has substantial expertise in the quantitative analysis of microwave, multispectral, hyperspectral and thermal infrared image data for downstream applications in environmental risk management (with a focus on floods and droughts), precision agriculture and maritime surveillance.
The final goal is to cover the whole innovation chain and design, craft, test and bring to the market new technological solutions relying on Earth observation information for a sustainable environment.
Her / his main challenges will be to strengthen a work environment conducive to a constant generation of ideas that will enable innovative solutions to be found.
She / he will be responsible for the good balance in the group, enhancing collaboration and team work amongst employees, and finding relevant synergies with other research groups / partners, including industrial ones.

More specifically, the Leader of the Remote Sensing and Natural Resources Modelling research group shall :
