Context

To boost excellence in research and technology, the Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST) has recently set up a Project Management Office (PMO) , under the direction of the Administrative and Financial Director.

The main tasks of the PMO at LIST are to :

  • Define and improve project management methods, procedures and tools for the purpose of guaranteeing their success
  • Advise and support the Principal Investigators (PI) in the submission and management of their projects
  • Mitigate project risks
  • To support the development of this new entity, LIST is recruiting a Head of Project Management Office.

    Description

    The Head of Project Management Office is responsible for the overall management, coordination and performance of the operational activities of the PMO, managing a team of around 15 people.

    She / he reports to the Administrative and Financial Director. In particular, the successful candidate is expected to :

  • Define and propose to the Administrative and Financial Director a roadmap for the development of the PMO, aligned with its overall missions and with LIST’s missions as an RTO
  • Lead the definition and the implementation of new procedures and tools
  • Establish processes for continuous improvement
  • Coordinate the daily operational activities of the PMO
  • Manage the team, create a stimulating and satisfying work environment, ensure the ongoing development of staff
  • Ensure interdisciplinary collaboration with the other corporate services and R&T departments at LIST
  • Foster a customer-oriented culture
  • Anticipate and support change
  • Represent and promote the Project Management Office within LIST
  • Education

  • Master’s degree in a technical, financial or business-oriented field or equivalent
  • Competencies

  • Have a sound knowledge and comprehension of the role of the Project Management Office
  • Have at least 10 years of relevant professional experience in project management
  • Show a track record in leading large projects and proven experience in project portfolio management
  • Experience in working with / for a research and innovation organization would be considered an asset
  • Show a track record related to the development of project management methodologies, processes or tools
  • Have relevant professional experience in team leadership
  • Demonstrate solid managerial skills
  • Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Have good knowledge of MS Office
  • Be at ease in working within an SAP and Business Object environment
  • Language

  • Have an excellent command of French and English
  • German and / or Luxembourgish would be considered an asset
