Overallpurpose of role

Investment Bank Middle Office (IBMO) is a global function withinBarclays providing transaction management and settlement services across allasset classes to the businesses.

Middle Office is non-revenue producing but isessential to managing risk and ensuring that transactions are executedcorrectly.

They are considered an essential part of a company's infrastructure.

Overall Purpose ofRole

The role holder will provide control and oversight functions to theEquity Financing, Strategic Transaction Group, Structured Financing andStrategic Investments businesses.

In addition to this, the team partner withthe businesses to develop robust and scalable operational support models forbespoke Financing trade strategies.

Structures typically traded by thisbusiness are complex and span multiple asset classes (including Equity + FixedIncome Securities, Derivatives, FX, Credit and direct capital investments) and operationalfunctions.

Key Accountabilities

  • Performing an oversight function for bespoke strategies, ensuring thatall transactions are handheld through pre-execution to settlement.
  • Co-coordinating and implementing change initiatives to drive efficiencyand enhance control framework
  • Liaising with the structuring team to ensure that that any complexoperational issues are identified escalated and resolved.
  • Engaging Operations areas in a timely manner to ensure support for new tradingactivity both from a process and resource perspective
  • Acting as liaison between Front Office and Support areas to ensureissues affecting business strategies are promptly resolved
  • Performing daily reconciliations, ensuring breaks are kept to a minimum,escalating issues in a timely fashion to Management and the Front Office
  • Effective and timely query management and issue resolution
  • Contributing to and coordinating strategic projects from a LuxembourgMiddle Office perspective, gathering and providing requirements, conductingtesting and measuring benefits of solutions implemented
  • Ensuring departmental controls across all functions are maintained byall team members and that controls are enhanced and adapted accordingly in linewith new technology or changes to existing workflow and procedures
  • Ensuringall daily tasks performed by the teamare executed in a timely and accurate manner with minimal errors
  • Decision-making and Problem Solving

    The role holder must possess a desire to learn and apply theirknowledge to complex operational issues. The role holder should have a logicalapproach when presented with such queries and be able to escalate whennecessary and seek support, if needed, to ensure swift resolution of issues ifthey arise.

    Ensureall activities and duties are carried out in full compliance withregulatory requirements, Enterprise Wide Risk Management Framework and internalBarclays Policies and Policy Standards.

    Person Specification

    Qualification / Education Preferred :

    2.1 Degree or equivalentqualification

    ExperienceRequired :

    Previous experience in a similarrole

    Strong Product Knowledge acrossFixed Income, Derivatives, FX and Credit asset classes (Equity knowledge alsopreferable)

    Previous experience ofautonomously driving change within their role, streamlining processes toincrease control and capacity

    Previous active involvement instrategic IT projects providing requirements, challenging solutions,coordinating and conducting UAT testing

    Strong track record of executionand results, high level of drive to meet deadlines and targets.

    ExperiencePreferred :

    Middle orBack Office experience

    ProjectManagement experience

    Skills / Aptitude Required :

    Motivated, self starter withexperience of working in a high pressure environment

    Ability to prioritise, beflexible and respond to changing environments

    Excellent problem solving skills ability to devise creative but workable solutions to complex operationalissues

    VBA, MS Excel & Access skills
