The field of activity of the Manager Planning Overland includes the functional and disciplinary management of the planning teams (Lux distribution and Pharma fleet excluded).

He / she manages projects driven by our customers and identifies internal and external cost saving opportunities and processes in order to ensure competitiveness and performance of KN.

The position combines customer facing roles as well as internal network management.

Your tasks and responsibilities

Operational tasks

  • Overall responsibility for planning and operational administration.
  • Ensure an efficient, profitable run of operations taking into consideration all given standards, quality
  • requirements and legal demands

  • Route development, carrier selection and deals in close co-operation with the Carrier Manager
  • Selection of equipment
  • Supervision and implementation of working instructions
  • Support Overland financial month end closing
  • Ensure an adequate planning, communication, accomplishment, optimization and control of the implementation f new operational processes
  • Closely co-operate with finance, QHSE, IT and other Business Unit (Air, Sea, Contract Logistics, integrated Logistics)
  • People management

  • Ensure workload and tasks are well organized within the pools and deadlines can and will be met
  • Create awareness in the teams regarding costs / profit and performance
  • Giving guidance and motivation to the teams through continuous training and performance measurement
  • Ensure development of the Pool leaders and member’s skills according to needs / targets
  • Managing the teams’ continuity through regular meetings and constantly giving feedback to the Pool leaders
  • Participate / Organize internal meetings
  • Supervision of overtime and holiday management within the teams
  • Ensure organization of back-ups within the teams
  • Compliance and realization of the pharma & healthcare standards of all activities in their full entity by considering the relevant GDP requirements and guidelines, customer demands and all internal regulations of the KN Lux organization
  • Compliance with required customer quality standards
  • Monthly internal business reviews with the pool team leaders concerning performance (financial, operational), report corrective actions and track progress.
  • Your skills and experience

  • Formal education in logistics with a good understanding of the forwarding business
  • 10 years of operational Overland experience
  • Leadership skills
  • Qualified experience in transportation and / or forwarding
  • Strong affinity with required customer quality standards
  • Computer skills : Excel, Word, SAP
  • Language skills : English, a second language is an advantage
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Analytical skills
  • Cost-effectiveness
  • Entrepreneurial driven
  • Travel estimate : 5% of working time

    Minimum Qualifications

  • Formal education in logistics with a good understanding of the forwarding business
