About the Role :
Ferrero HQ in Luxembourg is looking to fill the full-time position of a Data Engineer for the central BI&A team. This position covers all countries and categories in which Ferrero operates.
The Data Engineer, which is an emerging role in Ferrero’s BI& Analytics team, will play a pivotal role in operationalizing the most-urgent data and analytics initiatives for Ferrero’s transformation objectives.
The bulk of the Data Engineer’s work will be in managing existing data pipelines for retail sales data that is the basis for business-critical performance reporting to top management.
Additional work to create, test and put into production completely new data pipelines for category / country expansion and other third-party data sources is expected.
The Data Engineer will be measured on their ability to effectively build, optimize and manage multiple pipelines with little supervision.
Additionally Data Engineers will also be expected to collaborate with Data Scientists to work on models and algorithms developed by them in order to optimize them for data quality, security and governance and put them into production leading to potentially large productivity gains.
Main Responsibilities :
Manage and Build data pipelines : Managed data pipelines consist of a series of stages through which data flows. These data pipelines have to be created, maintained and optimized as workloads move from development to production for specific use cases.
Architecting, creating and maintaining data pipelines will be the primary responsibility.
Drive Automation through effective metadata management : The data engineer will be responsible for using innovative tools, techniques and architectures to partially or completely automate the most-common data preparation and integration tasks in order to minimize manual and error-prone processes and improve productivity.
This will include (but not be limited to) :
Leveraging Power BI, Informatica Data Lake and Data Catalog tools for integration and AI-enabled metadata management. Bringing additional expertise on the topic to the team to advise on gaps and opportunities.
Tracking data consumption patterns.
Performing intelligent sampling and caching.
Monitoring schema changes.
Recommending and automating existing and future integration flows.
Participate in ensuring compliance and governance during data use : It will be the responsibility of the data engineer to ensure that the data users and consumers use the data provisioned to them responsibly through data governance and compliance initiatives.
Data engineers should work with data governance teams (and information stewards within these teams) and participate in vetting and promoting content created in the business and by data scientists to the curated data catalog for governed reuse.
Who we are looking for :
Master's degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Data Management, Information Systems, Information Science or a related quantitative field;
At least five years of work experience in data management disciplines including data integration, modeling, optimization and data quality, and / or other areas directly relevant to data engineering responsibilities and tasks;
At least three years of experience working in cross-functional teams and collaborating with business stakeholders in consumer goods;
Strong experience supporting and working with cross-functional teams in a dynamic business environment;
Strong communication and collaboration skills;
Curiosity, creativity, and knowledgeable about new data initiatives and how to address them;
Has good judgment, a sense of urgency and has demonstrated commitment to high standards of ethics, regulatory compliance, service and business integrity;
Is a confident, energetic self-starter, who can self-manage time and meet all deadlines.
IT Skills :
Strong experience with advanced analytics tools for Object-oriented / object function scripting using languages such as R, Python, Java, C++, Scala, others ;
Ability to design, build and manage data pipelines for data structures encompassing data transformation, data models, schemas, metadata, and workload management;
Strong experience with popular database programming languages including SQL, PL / SQL, others for relational databases is required;
Strong experience in working with large, heterogeneous datasets in building and optimizing data pipelines, pipeline architectures and integrated datasets using traditional data integration technologies;
Strong experience in working with and optimizing existing ETL processes and data integration and data preparation flows and helping to move them in production;
Experience working with popular data discovery, analytics and BI software tools like PowerBI for semantic-layer-based data discovery;
Basic understanding of popular open-source and commercial data science platforms such as Databricks is a strong plus.
Fluent in English;
Other languages will be considered a plus.
