Team Leader Backup & Storage
Tasks Description :
The Backup& Storage Team Leader (or Service Leader) is responsible for theoperational services provided by a specific Service Module.
He / she isresponsible for efficiently organizing and controlling the execution ofstandard service procedures for a group of technicians, as well as beingresponsible for providing logical support for these procedures.
The TeamLeader should also ensure the following tasks :
Functionalmanagement of his group :
Activityplanning for the technicians in accordance with the contractualobligations / agreement
Installationplanning and co-ordination
Incident / Problemfollow-up
Coordinationand integration with other parts of the organisation
Ensurepro-active evolution & optimization of service delivery organisation,methods and tools
Environment and activities :
For the Storage and SAN domains, theservice is responsible to provide and maintain block-based (SAN) and file-based(NAS) environments based on disk arrays from different vendors (today EMC, HDSand NetApp), and a dedicated Storage Area Network built on top of switches anddirectors from known specialized vendors (at present Brocade and Cisco).
Concerning Data Protection, theservice provides state-of-the-art backup’s service classes to the customers andensures reliable restore mechanisms, based on disk-
based and tape-basedsoftware (EMC Networker and MS DPM) and hardware solutions from differentvendors (currently EMC and NetApp).
There are a broad range ofactivities performed within the backup and storage service to ensure thequality delivery of each individual service.
Below you will find an overallpicture of the most common activities.
The Backup and storage teamshall perform the following activities (list non-exhaustive) :
The activities related tomanaging the hardware are :
Analysis and propose configuration to deploy.
Architecture and Reference Configuration definition.
Decommissioning : data migration in coordination withother teams, logical disk shredding, and configuration cleaning.
In terms of activitieslinked to the provisioning and maintenance of the services :
Set-up and maintain Storage devices’ definitions andpolicies.
Set-up and maintain Backup tool and correspondingapplication’s modules definitions and policies.
Storage Area Network related : zoning and portconfigurations.
Drive and enforce standards based deployments.
Oversee installation, provisioning, troubleshooting andreporting.
Perform periodic analysis of vulnerabilities availablewith the corresponding risk and impact assessment, in conjunction with theproviders, to ensure a stable and safe setup.
Reporting based on templates ispart of the analysis.
In coordination with the providers, install updates andpatches to hardware and software. Perform routine and preventive maintenancetasks.
Capacity and Performance planning of each component ofthe infrastructure.
On a daily basis, theactivities performed are :
Monitoring of the Backup and Storage infrastructures
Incident follow-up and resolution (SMT)
After major system events, a Root Cause Analysis (RCA)has to be presented, including the preventive measures to take to limitpossible reoccurrences.
Service requests follow-up and resolution (SMT)
Generate reports on the overall status of the services’infrastructure.
Cooperate with customers and providers through ticketingand emails systems to solve inter-team or inter-providers problems.
On a periodic basis thereare additional tasks to be ensured :
Review and update the Storage / Backup Roadmap for theshort-mid-long term and the associated High Level Architecture (HLA).
In collaboration with the customer develop the policiesand service catalogue of storage& backup teams, manage service delivery&KPIs, and continuous improvement.
Develops and integrates mature storage & backupadministration and engineering processes that ensure continuous availability,automation and efficient utilization of the infrastructure.
Analyse, plan and implement Standard and Complex Changes,and perform corresponding post implementation review controls.
Participation in Problem Management, both in proactiveand reactive situations (SMT).
Create and improve Standard Operational Procedures.
Document Management’s repository (SharePoint’s Damanportal) up to date.
Participate in the planning and execution of complete or partial data centre shutdowns and fail-over.
Project work and activities.

Your Profile :
You have 6 years ofexperience in Backup & Storage domain within a large environment;
You have a proven experienceas Team Leader or Manager
You own an university degreeor equivalent level through experience and professional training;
You possess the ability andwillingness to quickly learn new technologies, capable of self-study;
In addition to your strongcommunication skills, you are structured, process minded and able to maintainthe high level overview
You are fluent in English(at least B2 Level). French is considered as an asset;
You can work independentlyand can manage your time;
You are eager to work in adynamic multi-national environment with a strong customer focus;
You are willing to travel inorder to attend industry events and customer meetings.
