Doctoral researcher (Ph.D. student) in Sociology
The successful candidate will investigate the social, economic, and health consequences of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic among young people.
A specific focus will be on various policy-relevant facets of social inequality. To this end, the Ph.D. student will analyze data collected by several waves of the Youth Survey Luxembourg (YSL), supervised by Assoc.
Prof. Dr. Robin Samuel. YSL covers a range of topics such as attitudes, health, political participation, values, and various items related to the pandemic.
Luxembourg is a highly diverse society and there is a need to better understand how social background shapes life chances and outcomes in these challenging times.
The successful candidate will become a member of the Doctoral School in Humanities and Social Sciences and the Centre for Childhood and Youth Research (CCY) within the Department of Social Sciences.
The CCY comprises a multidisciplinary research team that examines the conditions and opportunity structures of growing up against the backdrop of social change and inequalities.
It maintains strong links to other institutes within and beyond the department, both nationally and internationally.
