Our primary activity is providing financial services to John Deere customers and John Deere dealers who want to finance John Deere equipment.

The John Deere Bank IT Department implements and supports homegrown applications as well as purchased software to support the European portfolio and market.

The organization is currently undergoing a major transformation to adopt Agile and restructure the teams under a product hierarchy with a different mindset.

Along that transformation, the newly setup product teams will have the mission to develop and support the software components of digital products through the product’s lifecycle, introducing new technologies to modernize the tech stack.

In this position You will work on the Data & Analytics Enablement or Core Finance and Accounting product teams and support product roadmap and vision by planning its work, coordinating with others, and writing and testing code to deliver moderately complex functionality on a complete product or significant portion of a product it supports.

You will develop simple designs to solve well-defined problems with guidance from more senior team members.

Software Engineer (Permanent Contract)

Your major duties will be to :

As a software engineer part of the Data & Analytics Enablement product team at John Deere Bank in Luxembourg, You will design, develop, configure, and test Deere homegrown applications as well as purchased software using of legacy and new technologies.

Some example of legacy technologies includes standalone visual basic apps, SQL, batch jobs, MS Access / ODBC based reports as well as purchased legacy back end and regulatory reporting platforms, while examples of new technologies are several different AWS services, Python, ReactJS with introduction of DevOps, CI / CD and TDD principles.

  • Evaluate and implement enhancement design solutions to improve cost, quality, availability, usability, reliability and performance of software applications;
  • Analyze assignments and determines software specifications that must be fulfilled to achieve objectives;
  • Executes necessary documentation, as directed, or needed;
  • Collaborates with other relevant stakeholders and team members to ensure that features meet business needs;
  • Follows industry-standard agile software design methodology for development and documentation.

    Change Management and dealing with uncertainly, given that this position is to be part of a newly setup Scrum Team which is new and in the process of adoption Agile, transforming from traditional waterfall methodology.

    What Skills You Need :

  • Degree in an Engineering / Technology discipline or equivalent experience (4 years and +)
  • Varied database experience (e.g. MySQL, MongoDB, Oracle, PostgreSQL), data and infrastructure (Linux / Windows) management
  • Experience with modern data structure design and data engineering
  • Development, Design and Architecture - Data Lakes, Data Warehouses and ETL tools and technologies
  • Excellent coding skills in Python
  • Knowledge of API development (REST and / or GraphQL)
  • Experience with CI / CD and TDD technologies (e.g. Github, Jenkins, Terraform)
  • Experience in an Agile / Scrum team environment (e.g. Pair Programming)
  • Basic understanding of Visual Basic to troubleshoot, maintain and migrate existing legacy apps
  • Fluent in English; Luxembourgish / German / French and any other language would be an asset, but not mandatory.
  • What makes you stand out :

  • Software development full stack experience in Java / J2EE, NodeJS, Scala, JavaScript, UI Frameworks (ReactJS and / or Angular)
  • Working knowledge of AWS data Services (EC2, Lambda, SQS, SNS, S3, DynamoDB, RDS, EMR, Data Pipeline, Glue, Redshift, QuickSight)
  • Experience with full-stack design patterns and designing loosely coupled architectures
