About the Role :

For our HQs in Luxembourg, we are looking for a Category Manager for our Raw Material Procurement function.

The incumbent will be in charge of collaborating in the definition of the strategy and manage budget for relative purchasing Category according to medium and long-term Group strategies.

Manage the procurement activities for the Category of responsibility, collaborating to improve quality level and to minimize procurement risk (accordingly to methodologies and strategies defined by Risk Management Function).

Collaborate in the innovation development for Category of responsibility.

Main Responsibilities :


  • Collaborates in the definition of the strategy of the Category of responsibility, in alignment with medium and long-term Group strategies
  • Applies and implements purchasing policies, vendor management and developing policies, based on technical, organizational, economical and international financial knowledge
  • Ensures purchase orders management, looks for Request for Proposals from vendors, proposing qualified and suitable alternatives
  • Analyzes, aligns and evaluates offers received, in order to select the best available alternatives
  • Monitors operative KPIs

  • Elaborates the budget and medium-term plan according to Group and function strategy
  • Ensures for the Category of responsibility budget and medium-term plan objectives achievement respecting the KPIs

  • Performs market analyses with the support of procurement analyst for the Category of responsibility,
  • Manages procurement activities for the Category of responsibility, ensuring product availability with agreed quality and service levels
  • Performs spend analysis for the Category of responsibility in order to continuously improve the procurement performance

  • Contributes in defining category strategy for the Category based on business needs; working in cross-functional team including internal need and external market place
  • Supports supplier scouting to ensure business requirement

  • Conducts negotiation with suppliers of the Category of responsibility
  • Maintains, consolidates and improves relationships with existing suppliers, to ensure continuity, manage criticalities and strengthen common objectives
  • Monitors suppliers performances of the relative Category (through specific KPIs)

  • Collaborates with other Functions in the definition of policies, quality criteria, legal, environmental, ethical to purchase goods / services
  • Ensures timely information to the other Functions concerning contract framework agreements
  • Verifies compliance of contracts and master agreements
  • Contributes to the risk profile evaluation for the Category of responsibility, monitoring and reducing them
  • Who we are looking for :


  • Master's Degree in Economics, Business Administration, Finance, Engineering or other related fields;
  • 8 / 12 years of experience in Procurement and Expertise in Category Management;
  • Previous role in a purchasing department or other related experience to the category or other raw materials;
  • Expertise in driving the categories strategies development and implementation in different trade channels;
  • Strong knowledge in interpersonal relationship building
  • People management and employee coaching / development skills;
  • Knowledge of Global Raw Materials’ market, price agreements;
  • Knowledge of principal manufacturing and sustainability processes.
  • Enthusiasm and commitment to excellence with a result-oriented approach;
  • A fast learner who rapidly moves up the learning curve and wants to continue to take over new responsibilities;
  • Experience in domestic manufacturing plants;
  • Ability to work with all levels and functions within the Company, and with external business partners;
  • Ability to perform duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with the company’s values.
  • IT Skills

  • Experience with SAP, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Languages

  • Fluency in English is mandatory;
  • Any other language skills are considered a plus.
