O3b mPOWER is SES’s next-generation Medium Earth Orbit (MEO) satellite-based communication system offering high-bandwidth, low-latency data connectivity services to under-served and mobility markets.

Launching in 2021, the system will begin its service life in 2022. Building on the capabilities of our current O3b MEO system, O3b mPOWER expands exponentially to deliver thousands of dedicated services up to multiple gigabits per second.

It provides more flexibility than any satellite-based system available today or planned for the foreseeable future.

The Senior Engineer, Gateway Architecture will design and implement the ground systems for SES GEO / MEO satellites and act as product manager / software architect leading team of software developers for the development of operational software components and solutions for the automated remote control of the SES Ground Gateway systems.

Strong Technical understanding of ground gateway systems for e.g., Antenna and RF and IF sub-systems, Modems / Platforms

Technical understanding of ground gateway software systems / Monitoring & Control systems

Pragmatic system engineer in the Radio Frequency & Satellite Communication domain as well as effective and hands-on project implementer

Curious and up to date with latest technologies and forward thinking.

Who We Are Looking For (More About You) :

In order to achieve the outcomes described above, we believe you will have the following :

Skills / Competencies :

Talented in communication

Strong experience in fix and mobile earth station and teleport / gateway solutions for video / data transmissions (includes antenna, HPA, waveguide, switch matrix, converters, modulators, electrical & optical inter-facility links as well as DVB or VSAT / broadband or broadcast platforms), content / data / IF / RF spectrum measurement

Experienced in various ground monitoring & control and any other kind of monitoring systems for e.g., Network Management Systems, Element Management Systems or Operational Support Systems

Understanding of GEO, MEO and LEO telecommunications satellite technologies

Relevant experience as technical project manager / team lead for ground gateway systems

Preferred Education & Experience (a combination of education and experience will be considered) :

Minimum of 5 years relevant hands-on engineering experience and worked successfully as GW / RF Systems Engineer

As Project Manager / Team lead 2 years of relevant work experience

Analysis, design, specification, Implementation, and test of Ka-band gateways

Fluency in English

Preferred Qualifications :

Electrical / Telecommunications Engineering degree (BS / MS or similar) with a deep knowledge of RF and telecom theory

Hands-on engineering experience on RF / IF test equipment and RF measurement techniques, test and verification of ground stations and auxiliary systems

Proven experience in tools like Word, Excel, Excel VBA, PowerPoints, MS Project, Visio, AutoCAD

Understanding of Virtualization platforms including VMware, Cloud Computing, Software Build System,

Working knowledge of Linux / Unix operating systems

Willingness to travel domestically and internationally
