The WHS function is part of the Operation teams and supports our Amazon associates worldwide who are responsible for controlling the vast range of ways we serve customers.

They work hard to ensure that our customers receive what they want, when they want it, and we want to ensure they are able to do so safely, and as a responsible member of the communities we serve.

Role : EU EHS Audit Manager

Here at Amazon, we seek an experienced EHS Professional to join the Workplace Health and Safety, Program Insights & Innovation team and play a critical role in supporting Amazon’s EHS audit program.

The successful candidate will administer operational standards, review and recommend approval of new standards, and collaborate in the rollout and verification of the new standards for EHS auditing.

They will work collaboratively with many areas of the business to recommend standards that ensure EHS excellence but are flexible enough to remain relevant for our diverse business and operations in various geographies.

Because of the nature of the position, this role will be based in Europe, where our stakeholders are located.

Responsibilities :

  • Possess detailed understanding of applicable legal requirements (i.e. Codes, Standards and Administrative Policies).
  • Provide technical expertise, regulatory knowledge and understanding of Amazon Safety policies.
  • Partner with WHS teams to ensure audit criteria, programs and training are in alignment.
  • Function as a technical resource for all EU Amazon operations and regional safety for audit related issues and questions.
  • Deliver EHS audits as a lead auditor recommend the scope, team leadership and implementation of WHS Audits - internal audits (GEMS), regulatory compliance audits and data verification audits per region and BU.
  • Recommend and support a plan for internal audit execution, and partner with Sr. WHS Audit program managers to create a continuous loop of feedback that will enable standards that achieve EHS excellence.
  • Support implementation and execution of globally standardized audit programs.

  • Support audit teams from different geographies where needed. Collaborate with globally approved third party EHS auditors.
  • Recommend new WHS strategies / programs / technology (Gensuite / Austin) that are relevant to audit program.
  • Support the adoption of WHS strategy, and influence change across stakeholders via audits. Stay attuned to changing regulations and internal EHS performance to recommend changes to audit plans when required
  • Recommend adjustments to audit programs
  • Measure business and site performance against published requirements in EHS standards and local legal requirements.
  • Perform global trending of audit reports to identify common issues. Work with operations EHS partners and early intervention teams to recommend changes that address deficiencies.
  • Manage incoming project requests and track completion.

  • Master’s Degree safety / industrial / quality engineering, safety or other science or engineering discipline from an accredited university
  • Have or working towards CSP, CIH, NEBOSH, or CHMM certification.
  • Certified lead auditor for OHSAS18001, ISO14001, ISO9001
  • Fluent in speaking and writing in English and at least one other language (Spanish, French, German, Italian, or Polish preferred).
