Role / Department :

The Depositary Relationship manager is a senior member of the Luxembourg Depositary Team, reporting to the head of Depositary of Northern Trust Global Services Luxembourg (NTGS Lux).

The Depositary Relationship manager owns the Depositary service provided to NTGS Lux Depositary clients. This requires highly effective communication and relationship management skills and to be fully conversant in all aspects of regulatory and legal obligations of traditional and alternative investment funds.

A proven track record of delivering upon Depositary service excellence, building business relationships and adhering to the regulatory, legal and corporate control framework is expected.

The key responsibilities of the role include :

  • Own the overall NTGS Lux Depositary client service experience
  • Provide client support on a day to day and strategic level, ensuring a consistently high quality is maintained per contractual and regulatory obligations
  • Work with the NTGS senior management team to determine new strategies for Depositary services and deliver upon those
  • Develop deep and trusted relationships with NTGS clients, internal partners and stakeholders, focussing on continuous improvement, risk awareness, client satisfaction
  • Monitor the regulatory environment and assessing business and client impact, ensuring NTGS Lux Depositary services and Fund clients are compliant with applicable laws, regulations and circulars
  • Attend, assist and coach for client and internal due diligence visits
  • Review and develop client reports, KPIs, Board reporting and present these at client and management meetings
  • Assist in sales pitches and preparing materials
  • Represent NTGS Lux Depositary at industry events and internal governance committees and meetings, assess the evolving Depositary operating model and product differentiators
  • Act as deputy to the head of NTGS Lux Depositary and assist peer Depositary functional team managers, as required
  • Consistently look for opportunities to improve upon the NTGS Depositary business model. Assess the risks associated with NTGS Lux Depositary and client relationships, identify and manage these risks with the parties concerned
  • Lead by example, share knowledge, create and maintain a cohesive, diverse, respectful and inclusive working environment
  • Skills / Qualifications :

    The successful candidate will benefit from having :

  • Previous experience working in a Depositary bank at a senior level
  • Solid understanding of the regulatory regimes applicable to both traditional and alternative investment funds, in Luxembourg and preferably any other EU locations
  • Expertise in dealing with complex client matters, engaging client and their delegates, building solid relationships and maintaining business
  • Good knowledge of financial products / services associated with funds
  • Aware of the developing market place, regulatory landscape and new solutions being developed to meet changing demands
  • Used to dealing with internal senior management, including functions of compliance, finance, risk, legal and audit
  • Been involved in sales and new business initiatives, as sponsor, or project manager
  • Have lead teams, achieved common goals within a time, cost and regulatory driven environment
  • Represented a Depositary Bank at industry forums / events / committees
  • Fluent written and spoken English, with French being and advantage
