The opportunity Apply analytical and problem solving skills on requests for root cause determination of tire defects supporting tire design, material development, quality, production and technology projects.
Responsible for micro- / nanomechanical characterization of material properties and microstructure using different analytical techniques like Nanoindentation or AFM in the laboratory, incl.
method development. Hands-on sample preparation, measurement, data processing and analyses, interpretation, documentation and reporting of observations / conclusions in comprehensive reports and presentations.
Global collaboration with team members and cross-functional interaction throughout the R&D organization to ensure smooth knowledge and technology transfer.
To join our team you will need : Education : The candidate should have a Master degree in Material Science, Engineering, Physics, Analytical / Polymer Chemistry, related subjects or equivalent experience.
Languages : The candidate must be fluent in English (oral and written). Knowledge of French and / or German will be considered as a strong asset.
Experience : Required practical experience with Nanoindentation, AFM or similar techniques, incl. sample preparation, ideally on elastomers.
Sound knowledge about material structure, properties and characterization, as well as experience with polymers / elastomers are required.
Experience in optical microscopy, SEM / EDX, x-ray tomography, FTIR, Raman or any micro-analytical technique is a strong advantage.
Knowledge in defect analyses, tire engineering, manufacturing,, testing or materials is an advantage. Skills & Qualifications : Demonstrated ability to analyze and solve problems systematically.
Ability to work in interdisciplinary teams in an international environment. Team player, self-motivated, open-minded, creative, flexible with a sense of responsibility and urgency.
Good communication and interpersonal skills on all levels. Solid computer skills (office, analytical software, image processing, statistics) Ready to follow all corporate lab safety and environmental work practices and policies.
