Amazon is seeking a Senior Tax Analyst to join the Tax Department based in its Luxembourg headquarters. The ideal candidate will be able to work with a high level of collegiality, functioning as a tax adviser and be comfortable directly liaising with various business teams within the company and with other members of the tax department.

Primary duties include :

  • Researching advanced international tax issues working with taxing authorities and outside advisers as necessary as part of a tax team involved in supporting EU business initiatives
  • Assist with developing and evaluating European planning opportunities providing benefits to the Company
  • Assist with developing strategic and operational implementation work plans and ability to measure results against plans
  • Assist with audits
  • Assists with implementation of agreed-upon European tax strategies and projects
  • Providing support to the U.S. based transfer pricing team
  • Providing support to the Luxembourg accounting team responsible for accounting for intercompany transactions
  • Managing and coordinating European tax audits, including audit preparation, responding to document requests, etc.
  • Managing European outbound withholding taxes
  • Reviewing financial data for proper application of tax laws and advising on development and maintenance of accounting systems which provide tax information required to be reported
  • Assisting with managing, coordinating and reviewing EU tax compliance and reporting obligations including local country statutory account tax provision and related disclosures and corporation tax returns.
  • Includes developing recommendations for process improvements.

  • Assisting with managing SOX 404 compliance and implementation of best practice procedures
  • Maintaining and communicating knowledge of past, present and potential future European corporate tax laws, regulations, rulings, procedures and court decisions
  • Assisting with managing relationships with outside tax consultants and regulatory authorities on an ongoing basis
  • International income tax experience with a public accounting firm, major law firm, and / or in industry, preferably a multinational corporation.
  • Excellent knowledge of Windows operative systems and Office package - Advanced knowledge in Excel and SQL
  • Strong background in Accounting / Finance
  • A degree in law or accounting
  • Chartered accountant (or equivalent) or graduate degree in taxation preferred
  • Understanding of accounting concepts preferred
  • Detail-oriented individual who takes ownership of projects
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely with all levels of management
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Able to extract, analyze, and review data and make appropriate recommendations
  • Work effectively in a team environment
  • Hard working, quicker learner with a positive ''can do'' attitude and solid professionalism
