The EIB, the European Union's bank, is seeking to recruit for its Group Corporate Services Directorate Group Digital Office (GCS-GDO) Platforms & Services Department (P&S) Infrastructure Services Division (IS) - Network and Data Centre Unit (NDC),at its headquarters in Luxembourg a (Senior) Container Platform Engineer.
This is a full time position at grade 5 / 6.Panel interviews are anticipated for end of August / beginning of September.
The term of this contract is 4 years.The EIB offers fixed-term contracts of up to a maximum of 6 years, according to business needs, with a possibility to convert to a permanent contract, subject to organisational requirements and individual performance.
Operating NetworkThe unit is responsible for managing and delivering IT infrastructure services in the area of network and data centre technologies.
You would report directly to the Head of Unit and coordinate up to 10 consultants (engineers, technicians) for projects and daily operations.
Accountabilities Design, implement and operate the Container Platform Services with a focus on security, networking policy, service routing, high availability, observability, integration with shared enterprise services and integration with automated continuous integration (CI) / continuous delivery (CD) pipelinesSupport application on boarding such as workload migration to containers or containerizing development workflowsDesign, implement API’s and other tooling as required to enable consumption of containerized computing resources as a secure, reliable, and highly automated serviceCoordinate project teams for the implementation of projects and for operating and maintaining the Containers Platform Ensure that projects are managed and that solutions are designed and implemented respecting internal and external standards, best practices and security recommendations Resolve incidents in coordination with the Incident and Problem Manager Enforce and communicate internal policies, standards and procedure and actively propose ideas of improvement and optimisation for the existing processes and services In collaboration with the IT Security teams, address hardware and software vulnerabilitiesAct as Contract Manager for all framework contracts related to Container platform scopeWrite terms of reference for new framework contracts in the scope of datacentre services and act as subject matter expert, when requiredQualificationsUniversity degree in computer science or related disciplinesAt least 5 years of relevant professional experience in IT infrastructure, of which at least 2 years of experience in building and maintaining Kubernetes cluster deployments Demonstrated competency in a programming / scripting language (e.
g. python)Experience with CI / CD DevOps deployment tools such as Ansible, Jenkins and GitHub are a plusProven experience of delivering IT Infrastructure projects and managing project teams, including rollout of new technologies in an enterprise wide infrastructuresExperience in designing and / or in troubleshooting infrastructure issues and providing first-class customer service including common GNU / Linux distributionsCNCF Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) would be an assetGood understanding of client server and web application architectures and knowledge of best practices from an IT Infrastructure point of view to support such applications Excellent knowledge of English and / or French (*), with a good knowledge of the other.
