The University of Luxembourg invites applications for the following vacancy at the Laboratory for photovoltaics in the frame of a joint research project, funded by the Fonds National de la Recherche.

The Laboratory for Photovoltaics together with the University of Cambridge will investigate thin film solar cells, which have a shorter energy pay back time than conventional solar cells.

The successful candidate will prepare thin film solar cells, based on chalcopyrite (Cu(InGa)S2) and perform opto-electronic analysis.

This will be combined with advanced electron microscopy, performed at the University of Cambridge, to understand and mitigate limitations of current solar cells.

Your Role

The doctoral candidate will be a member of the Department of Physics and Materials Science within the Faculty of Science, Technology and Medicine at the University of Luxembourg.

She or he will perform research under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Siebentritt.

  • Master degree in Physics (or equivalent) with excellent grades
  • Good background in solid state physics, preferably in solar cells, semiconductors
  • Self-motivated, committed and curious
  • Creative and able to think independently
  • Excellent command of English
