The University of Luxembourg (UL) seeks to hire a Head of Office, for its newly created central Office for Partnership, Knowledge and Technology Transfer (KTT) .

The newly launched central Office for Partnership, Knowledge and Technology Transfer (KTT) aims at bringing UL’s research outcomes to exploitation through partnerships, patenting, licensing and spin-off activities.
Building on international best practices and UL’s significant research achievements, UL has already launched several significant partnerships, Proof of Concepts and spin-off companies.
Today, we wish to consolidate our existing teams of experienced experts towards a fully-fledged central office, which will closely collaborate with the experts in UL’s entities in the spirit of a distributed hub-and-spoke system.
This is a unique opportunity to lead and shape the development of the central office from a very early stage, including several new recruitments, to what shall become the symbol and reinforcement of the 3rd mission of the University.
Your Role As Head of the Office for Partnership, Knowledge and Technology Transfer (KTT) , your responsibility will be : To set-up and shape the newly created office, with a UL-wide distributed system, following good internal and international practices To recruit new talent for the office To coordinate and manage the office activities & staff on a daily basis To build trust with UL’s faculties and ICs towards a co-constructed KTT structure and activity To proactively engage with KTT experts in UL’s entities to foster exploitation of scientific outcomes To prepare and implement a long-term KTT strategy, including securing headcount, funding resources To scout for and liaise with external partners and networks from the private and public sectors To analyse the existing Technology portfolio, including a strategy for its licencing To develop a framework and strategy for UL’s spin-offs To further structure the KTT activities by implementing best practices, developing new procedures and personnel, and ensuring integration in UL To actively engage UL into the local innovation ecosystem To contribute to the development of entrepreneurial activities of students, staff etc.
To elaborate a training plan on KTT aspects To set UL on the European map of technology transfer organizations To report to the rectorate of UL on Partnership, and Knowledge and Technology Transfer (KTT) Your Profile At least 7 years of experience with international partnership, knowledge and technology transfer, licencing Proven project and management experience, preferably in technology transfer or in industrial companies Strong background in partnership and business development, licensing, business assessment, start-up coaching, IP management Professional network in the local and European innovation landscape Entrepreneurial experience is considered an asset Skilled in navigating in academic, industrial and governmental environments Strong communication skills to bridge the academic and industrial world Knowledge of the Luxembourgish innovation ecosystem is considered an advantage Registered Technology Transfer Professional (RTTP) or equivalent certification (such as CLP Certified Licensed Professional) is an asset Fluent written and verbal communication skills in English and French are mandatory, Luxembourgish or German would be considered as an asset We offer The University offers highly competitive salaries and is an equal opportunity employer.
