Job summary

The Alexa International team is looking for a Data Scientist to build models that unearth actionable customer insights, measure immediate and long-term impact of customer actions and product / marketing initiatives, analyze petabytes of data and drive recommendations for increasing customer engagement, retention and monetization across the Alexa International organization.

A successful candidate will be able to partner effectively with both business and technical teams, including clear communication of results across a variety of stakeholders in a fast paced environment.

He / She will be an expert in SQL, Python, R, Machine Learning, A / B experimentation and causal inference, ETL with a proven track record of connecting data insights to business impact.

He / She will be able to present analytical results and insights clearly using multiple methods, including written summaries and visualization / reporting tools such as Tableau / Matplotlib / Quicksight

Key job responsibilities

Solve Alexa customer problems by developing statistical and ML models, developing hypotheses, designing simulations and experiments to validate those hypotheses, analyzing large amounts of business data, diving deep to identify business insights and opportunities, and collaborating with Scientists, Engineers, BIE's, and Product Managers and Marketers

Write code (Python, R, Scala, etc.) to analyze data and build statistical models to solve specific business problems.

Apply statistical or machine learning knowledge to specific business problems and data.

Conduct written and verbal presentation to share insights and recommendations to audiences of varying levels of technical sophistication.

Act as Data Science Practice lead for the team and help upskill other team members

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s degree (or Bachelors degree or 5+ years of experience) in a quantitative discipline such as Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, Business Analytics, Economics, Finance, Engineering, or Computer Science
  • 3+ years of experience working as a Data scientist
  • 3+ years of experience using SQL
  • 3+ years of experience using Python
  • 2+ years of experience in Machine Learning, A / B testing and Causal inference
  • 2+ years of experience analyzing data on Consumer products in Internet space
  • 2+ years of experience with ETL tools
  • PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Operational Research, Statistics or a related quantitative field.
  • Prior experience in building recommendation models and creating and leveraging customer segmentation models for a retail company / org.
  • Experience in advanced business / customer analytics.
  • Excellent writing skills for both technical and business-facing documents.
  • Experience in NLP modeling and analysis
