ROLE DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
For our Satellite Operations Centre in Betzdorf, Luxembourg, we are looking for a Controller for a one-year mission.
The mission of the SOC team is to ensure the safe operations of the GEO / MEO satellite fleet and ensure that all planned activities are executed in a timely and accurate manner.
Monitor and control a defined number of spacecraft to ensure safety and agreed performance levels for customers
Always act in the best interest of SES and its asset : maximise satellite lifetime, ensure satellite health and safety, document and report errors and interventions
Attentively observe operational status of entrusted fleet assets at all times to avoid irreparable spacecraft damage or loss of corporate revenue through service outages
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES / KEY RESULT AREAS
Operate spacecraft in accordance with approved procedures and the daily operations plan, always remain vigilant regarding data anomalies
Give dedicated attention to perform error-free spacecraft commands
Keep your knowledge up-to-date and have the awareness to escalate for assistance, when required
Continuously monitor spacecraft telemetry and alarm status and respond to alarms or anomalous conditions by following the documented procedures and using good judgement
Report any anomaly accurately and precisely in the spacecraft operations logbook
Perform tests as described and approved by the Engineering teams
Assist in the development of schedules, logs, forms, charts, graphs and other elements designed to provide thorough records of performance
Analyse data, reports and logs and propose recommendations for improving the way of working
Maximise transponder availability through effective communication of operational issues (ground or spacecraft) to the Network Operations teams
Work in a 24 / 7 shift cycle
Work very closely with Engineering, Ground, Network and Customer Service personnel
Follow instructions and guidance from the senior staff and team leaders
Attend regular training sessions to tests for accreditation that the required level of knowledge has been attaint
Obtain accreditation as assigned to you by management
Train procedures on the Dynamic Spacecraft Simulator on a regular basis
Perform other duties as required
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
Bachelor degree or equivalent level experience
Prior work experience in a technical environment
Computer literate (MS Office)
Track record in working autonomously and delivering on agreed standards
Technical knowledge in a related field
Driver’s license and personal car
This position requires the candidate to access controlled technical data subject to US export control laws
