Amazon’s European Private Brand team is currently seeking a talented, dynamic and detail-oriented Senior manager for customer insights.
We are looking for a bright, analytical individual who is happy to dive deep into the vast amount of data available at Amazon to understand customer behavior and optimise website performance.
You will need to understand the needs of each category and provide the tools, expertise and metrics to ensure insightful, data-
driven approaches to a range of problems around customer needs, customer behavior, marketing strategies, site performance, channel optimization and promotional effectiveness.
You will develop robust, structured and automated data information management tools, as well as recommending scientific frameworks and SOPs for testing.
The ideal candidate will be quantitatively strong, and have well-developed SQL skills and excellent Excel skills. You will be able to quickly break down business problems into information needs, and know where to look for the information you require -
this means developing rapid familiarity with Amazon’s many databases and reporting platforms. You will have professional experience as an analyst in a data-
rich environment which required hands-on data extraction and manipulation. Experience in marketing analytics or site optimisation would be a definite plus.
Use Amazon’s proprietary data to design, develop and maintain customer, retail category, and product purchase insights to drive key marketing decisions for private brands.
Ability to understand high-level business objectives and align projects to the needs of the business, while also translating business objectives into analytical tasks.
Ability to effectively communicate and explain metrics and reports frameworks to senior management and to a business audience.
Invent new methods and processes to make insights discovery faster and more efficient, including automation in Excel and other scripting languages
Be a liaison to other teams across Amazon regarding data mining, analytics, and marketing; teams including Ad Products, Central Market Research, Traffic Analytics
Help manage a research request queue to support ad hoc requests for data, as well as to develop syndicated data products to feed into that queue.
Automate work to speed up turnaround time and minimize repetitive work.
Participate in the design and analysis of primary research studies, e.g. consumer surveys

Proficient with SQL data mining and ETL queries
Insight or customer research experience
Experience in data analysis and mining using large datasets in a business environment
Proven written communication and data presentation skills, including an ability to succinctly summarize key findings and effectively communicate with both business and technical teams
Ability to tell compelling stories with data
Extremely proficient, power user of Excel
Comfort with or exposure to basic statistics, e.g. significance tests, regression, ANOVA
Online retail experience
Site optimisation experience
Promotional effectiveness experience
