Customs Compliance :

  • Monitor customs regulatory and legislative changes for Gates EU and UK sites
  • Ensures compliance in new business models
  • Conduct duty calculations for sales and procurement projects
  • Provides customs support for Gates entities and customers
  • Supports in trade - related issues
  • Issues export control certificates.
  • Develop, implements and monitors customs authorizations, processes and data
  • Issues suppliers' declarations as per customs preferential regulation for EU customers
  • Creates origin certificates as per customer's requirements
  • Manages customs data in ERP system (origin and customs codes)
  • Completes supplier screenings (OCR) - export control related
  • Supports the coordination of import / export shipments with the Corporate Logistics and Compliance departments.
  • Assigns HTS classifications, Export Control Classification (ECCN) FDA import product codes and country of origin information
  • Supports projects focused on improving business operations and processes.
  • Coordinates with Customer Service and logistics to troubleshoot problem orders / shipments.
  • Is responsible for auditing customs brokerage and shipment transactions and files
  • Develops presentations and effectively communicates results with recommended action plans to management.
  • Uses data analysis / modeling to create new reports; troubleshoots and modifies existing reports including target KPIs, commodity indices, cost savings opportunities, etc.
  • Partners on initiatives to support the creation of new reports, metrics and dashboards based on business needs.
  • Provides necessary compliance training to operational personnel.
  • Has expertise in multiple areas of import and export laws such as HTS Classification, Country of Origin, Free Trade Agreements, Customs Valuation.
  • Provide risk assessment and Identifies and develops business processes to address compliance risks
  • ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES : List the essential functions that are core to this position and represent at least 5% of the incumbent"s time.

    Other duties may be assigned beyond the core functions listed below. 1 20%Creates origin declarations for customers, preferential and non-preferential 2 35%Acts as subject matter expert to ensure operational compliance with compliance laws 3 10%Manages customs data in ERP system, 4 10%Classifies new and existing manufactured products according to tariff rules 5 20%Participates in set up of new business models ensuring customs compliance 6 5%Completes supplier screenings (export control)

    QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5 to 8 years of relevant experience in the field of customs, customs brokerage or similar industry
  • Must have dealt with with trade and customs matters
  • Must have strong knowledge of import / export regulations, Free trade agreements and Country of Origin specifics
  • Fluency in English is a must
