Purpose of the position
This is a specialist, hands-on role with a broad remit to develop credit risk as well as the overall Risk function and to become recognised as a Senior Risk Manager within EWUB.
The role will report to the CRO and lead the enhancement of the credit risk function and its methodology, including performing credit analysis and challenge the business, enhancing risk appetite and exposure and capital methodology.
To help develop the Credit Risk Management framework of EWUB in line with best practise and regulatory expectations.
Role and Responsibilities
Take ownership of the Credit risk management framework including identifying the key risks of the investment portfolio, and determining the credit risk appetite framework and credit exposure methodology.
Responsible for performing credit analysis and presenting risk recommendation on investment to Senior Management.
Develop and enhance tools to support analyses for risk decisions (e.g. quantitative analysis that goes into Risk proposals).
Help lead Credit Committee meetings to guide and shape the credit decision approach towards credit risk management.
Prepare presentations to Board, Executive and Risk Committee’s.
Influence strategic discussions between the Front office, Risk and IT on systems requirements for Risk management
Represent risk management in bank internal projects (e.g. regulatory driven, new products and businesses etc.)
Professional Skills and Experiences
A proven track record of at least 5 years’ experience in Risk Management within Banking or Financial services with regulatory oversight.
A strong technical emphasis on credit risk management including credit analysis, credit exposure methodology and stress testing.
Excellent knowledge of regulatory requirements, including capital methodology and IFRS9, and how they should be utilised on a dynamic basis for Risk Management purposes.
Strong product knowledge across Derivatives, Syndicated loans, Trade Finance.
An ability to influence Senior Management, stakeholders and Risk decision makers.
Good interpersonal skills and verbal presentation skills
A sense of commerciality and ability to make a balanced, informed judgement.
