DO Recruitment Advisors is recruiting, on behalf of an American multinational Company, a Director Legal Counsel to provide legal support with respect to the Company's in-house bank, located in Luxembourg.

In this newly created position, this Legal Expert reports to the Corporate Legal team in the United States and will handle a broad workload related to legal issues, including contractual, commercial, regulatory, securities and compliance matters.

The Director, Legal counsel oversees and manages legal aspects and most recent legal developments in banking, finance and corporate governance related matters, and provides the corporate and local treasury teams with regular updates on related legal and regulatory matters.

More precisely, the role will include being responsible for :

  • Providing legal advice in respect to lending and capital markets businesses on a broad range of regulatory and transactional issues and in particular the Company's Luxembourg based in-house bank.
  • Providing general corporate governance legal support related to international entities, including board and shareholder meetings, director and officer issues.
  • Reviewing and analysing laws and regulations impacting the Company's in-house banking activities and preparing and overseeing communications and summaries of laws and regulations for the benefit of compliance and business stakeholders.
  • Developing policies consistent with enterprise principles and partner with their treasury, tax and controllership teams to serve as the legal point of contact for examination oversight, audits, submissions, and regulatory communication.
  • Analysing legal issues in banking, finance, regulatory and corporate law and providing effective advice on diverse legal matters.
  • Preparing, communicating, and educating internal client groups in Luxembourg and internationally on changes in law, policies, and practices in Luxembourg.
  • Building up long term and strong relationships with different stakeholders.
  • Supporting the business in fast changing environment (iterations, revisions, new concepts).

  • Law degree and authorized to practice law at the Luxembourg bar.
  • 8+ years of experience practicing law with a major international law firm or financial services organization, including experience in general corporate and lending activities.
  • Ability to analyze legal and regulatory issues in area of practice and provide effective advice to clients on complex legal matters.
  • Extensive experience conducting research and providing counsel and guidance regarding complex legal issues.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy skills.
  • Ability to effectively organize and prioritize work while handling multiple matters.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a complex environment with a high degree of collaboration.
  • Effective in building partnerships, functioning well with project teams, and working for the success of the team.
  • Fluent English, any other language is an asset.

    Our client is the in-house bank of an American multinational Company.

    At the final stages of the recruitment process, the successful candidate can be asked to provide supporting documentation such as, for example, copies of diplomas or proof of previous jobs, and a standard criminal record check might also be requested.
