Your Role

The main research topics this opening is calling for are :

  • New challenges in HW-assisted and adaptive R / T control and Byzantine Fault Tolerance (BFT) (CPS / IoT appl., namely autonomous land / air / space vehicles)
  • Project context : Intel ICRI-CARS, FNR HyLIT, H2020 Admorph
  • New challenges in digital health data, systems and processes (trusted life-cycle of biomedical data incl. privacy); trustworthy operation of medical systems;
  • ICT enablers for future applications)

  • Project context : FNR PEARL, GenoMask
  • New challenges in blockchain systems (cybersecurity and resilience, energy and scalability)
  • Project context : FNR ThreatAdapt
  • Successful candidates have a unique opportunity of participating in challenging and innovative research themes, contributing to the ambitious research agenda of the CritiX lab, supported by a very substantial PEARL Grant from the Luxembourg National Research Fund, FNR () and other sources, namely Intel Labs, and other projects recently started ().

    They will be given excellent conditions for the development of their research skills, in terms of working conditions, mentoring and laboratory facilities.

    The candidate will work closely with Prof. Esteves-Veríssimo and the team members of the CritiX Research Group.

    English is the working language of this international laboratory.

    Your Profile

  • We welcome candidates with a PhD in Computer Science and / or Engineering, Informatics, or related areas in Applied Mathematics and Engineering.
  • Strong background in the theory and practice of Security and / or Fault Tolerance, of Software and / or Distributed Systems and Networks design, verification, and experimental evaluation, will be considered as an advantage.
  • We consider as an advantage, proven experience in several of : fault and intrusion tolerance (a.k.a. BFT); trusted computing and architectural hybridisation (e.
  • g. TEE); blockchain, advanced cryptography, data privacy; system knowledge of cloud, SDN or P2P infrastructures.

  • Fluent written and verbal communication skills in English are mandatory.
