POSITION SUMMARY
The Configuration Manager (CM) and Change and Problem Manager (CPM) role is responsible for all aspects of Systems Configuration Management, Problem Resolution Management and Change Management.
This position works closely with Systems Development Lead and Systems Project Lead roles to form the core of System Lead group.
The Configuration Manager role coordinates and approves Product baselines to ensure project completeness and manages traceability of the product configuration to changes resulting from the solution of defects.
The Change and Defect Manager role coordinates engineering efforts to work on solving issues and processing changes to the product along its lifecycle, while balancing the team’s efforts, to achieve the goal of zero defects at product launch.
This role requires working together with Program Leads, Engineering, and interfaces frequently with the customer.
KEY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Plan how to manage configuration items
Identify configuration work products and establish work product baselines
Review Configuration items list with System Project Lead
Define system release configurations
Assists System Project Lead in Work Product Review planning
Establish configuration management structure
Maintain configuration management documentation and track configuration management status
Assist System Project Lead in preparing initial project infrastructure
Assist Software Architect in defining Baseline and communicate the software architecture
Assist Software Development Lead in Baseline software requirements
Assist System Architect in Baseline and communicate the system architectural design
Assist System Development Lead in Baseline systems requirements
Analyze the defects, plan the corrections and track towards defect resolution
Close out defect reports and analyze problem trends
Analyze all change requests and their impact on Safety
Decide on change request and track them towards resolution
Communicate change request status and close out the requests
JOB REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE (Minimum Qualifications)
Bachelor’s in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering with focus on electric drive systems; power electronics and / or motors.
Master’s degree in related technical field preferred.
8+ Years of automotive or aerospace industry experience with progressive increases in responsibility
3+ years engineering experience in Systems engineering, or Master’s Level Sys Engineering certification or coursework
5+ Years of experience in development of propulsion system, power electronics, motors or engines, hardware and controls development, system integration, and execution
Specific experience in Polarion or other equivalent tools
Specific experience in ASPICE, functional safety, and cyber security standards and relevant processes to ensure adherence to industry requirements
Understanding of hybrid and electric vehicle systems, their operating modes and system tradeoffs
Understanding of power electronics, electric motors and controls, validation requirements and processes, and diagnostics for automotive applications
Understanding of automotive SW and functional safety requirements & development
Knowledge of safety analysis for automotive systems, including ISO 26262 Functional Safety
Analytical, technical, and statistical skills for root cause analysis, methods and tools (DFMEA, FMEA, FMEDA, 8-D, and FTA analysis)
Knowledge of AGILE approach, JIRA or similar tools
Understanding of how engineering interrelates with other functions in the organization
Understanding of Engineering Management skills, effort estimation, and work tracking
Strong writing and verbal communication skills
Good at coaching people and fostering a team approach
Global Experience working with multiple regions and multiple cultures
Some travel (less than 10%) and a flexible work schedule on occasion
