The Legal team is responsible for providing advice and counsel to our business and functional clients across the company.

Our legal professionals help the company avoid legal exposure, while ensuring compliance with local laws and regulations in the countries where AIG operates.

Company attorneys also complete innovative deals and help shape the development of cutting-edge insurance products.

About the role

AIG Europe SA is seeking a bright, confident and adaptable insurance lawyer for the EMEA regional HQ in Luxembourg. The successful candidate must have gained relevant experience working in the financial services industry and will be able to manage multiple matters in a fast-paced and international environment.

The role includes the non-exhaustive below list :

  • Working as part of the EMEA Legal team and managing own matters.
  • Advising on all aspects of Luxembourg laws and regulations.
  • Providing legal support into projects in all areas of the business across EMEA.
  • Participating to Luxembourg insurance industry working groups / events.
  • Participating and coordinating cross-country / cross-function initiatives.
  • Drafting, reviewing and negotiating a range of commercial contracts, including intermediary agreements, distribution, outsourcing, and supply.
  • Ensuring that all legal documentation complies with, and contains, appropriate obligations on third parties to comply with regulatory and legal requirements.
  • Attendance at internal meetings and sitting on internal committees, where required.
  • Operating and providing advice within the framework of AIG’s Compliance Standards.
  • What we’re looking for :

  • At least 5 years of legal experience in-house with an insurance company, preferably in Luxembourg.
  • Solid working knowledge of the regulatory framework surrounding the insurance industry, including the Commissariat aux Assurances rules.
  • Must have enthusiasm for becoming a business partner with a high commitment to customer service and legal compliance.
  • Must have a can-do attitude.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills both in English and in French. Other languages are a nice to have.
  • Strong negotiation and influencing skills.
  • Good inter-personal skills and strong personal impact.
  • Ability to work autonomously as well as in a team environment.
  • Strong research, analytical and problem-solving skills.
