The Interdisciplinary Centre for Security, Reliability and Trust (SnT) invites applications from PhD holders in the general area of perception and control engineering for autonomous UAVs within its Automation & Robotics Research Group (ARG).

SnT is carrying out interdisciplinary research in secure, reliable and trustworthy ICT systems and services, often in collaboration with industrial, governmental or international partners.

The SnT Automation & Robotics Research Group is a strong and motivated research team led by Prof. Holger Voos. The group focuses on perception and control for autonomous vehicles and robots, including unmanned aerial vehicles, service robots in Industrie automated and autonomous cars or satellites and spacecraft.

  • Fixed-term contract 2 years, full-time 40 hrs / week

  • Your Role :

    The successful candidate will contribute to a multidisciplinary national project related to the integration of UAVs in 5G communication networks, also in collaboration with industrial partners.

    In addition, the candidate will also be involved in other research projects related to the navigation and control of autonomous mobile robots with a strong focus on Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs).

    In general, the candidate is expected to perform the following tasks :

  • Conducting research on autonomous navigation and control for UAVs in 5G urban environments focusing on the following topics : autonomous navigation of 5G connected UAVsRobust situation awareness and sensor fusionObject detection and tracking, obstacle avoidanceReal-time optimization for trajectory planning and tracking
