About the University
The University of Luxembourg aspires to be one of Europe’s most highly regarded universities with a distinctly international and interdisciplinary character .
It fosters the cross-fertilisation of research and teaching , is relevant to its country, is known worldwide for its research and teaching in targeted areas, and is establishing itself as an innovative model for contemporary European Higher Education.
The University s core asset is its well-connected world-class academic staff which will attract the most motivated, talented and creative students and young researchers who will learn to enjoy taking up challenges and develop into visionary thinkers able to shape society.
Within the University, the Luxembourg Centre for Systems Biomedicine (LCSB) is a highly interdisciplinary research centre (IC), integrating experimental biology and computational biology approaches in order to develop the foundation of a future predictive, preventive and personalized medicine.
The Developmental and Cellular Biology Group (led by Prof. Jens Schwamborn) at the Luxembourg Centre for Systems Biomedicine utilizes human stem cells for modeling and experimental treatment of neurodegenerative disease.
Projects in the lab are at the interface of systems biology and bio-medical research. In particular, we aim on developing novel, complex in vitro models, particularly organoids and assembloids, which are specific for the human brain.
Our main disease model is Parkinson’s disease.
Area : Computational Biology / Artificial Intelligence approaches for image data extraction and analysis.
Your Role
In this particular project, we are looking for a postdoctoral researcher who has a computational background. We are looking for a candidate, who can work independently but also enjoys to collaborate closely with other members of the lab (developmental biologists and neuroscientists).
A particular focus of the project shall be on the development of computational pipelines for analyzing high-throughput image data generated in patient-specific models.
Furthermore, the management and integration of different kinds of experimental data-sets beyond image data will be an important aspect.
