The Max Planck Institute Luxembourg for Procedural Law is an Institute of the Max Planck Society, which is Germany’s most successful research organization.
The Institute in Luxembourg conducts research in the areas of European law of civil procedure, international litigation and arbitration and dispute resolution in the financial markets.
The Max Planck Institute Luxembourg would like to appoint highly qualified candidates for two full-time position as :
Senior Research Fellow (Postdoc) (m / f)
For the Research Department of International Law and Dispute Resolution
With Professor Hélène Ruiz Fabri
The Senior Research Fellow will conduct postdoctoral research (own publications and contribution to common research projects), in the field of public international law, international procedural law (including European law, and international arbitration), and international adjudication, while playing a central role in undertaking and developing team-driven projects within the Institute and in partnership with international collaborators.
Senior Research Fellows at the Max Planck Institute Luxembourg for Procedural Law enjoy ample time to advance their own academic careers.
The Senior Researchers of the Department of International Law and Dispute resolution become part of the Max Planck Law network which encourages cooperation between the law-oriented Max Planck Institutes of the Max Planck Society by engaging in a wide range of exchanges and activities.
The position is open to candidates interested in acquiring a postdoctoral academic qualification in form of a postdoctoral thesis (e.
g. German Habilitation) or other publications; further details are subject to agreement. Teaching at law faculties is accepted.
The applicants are required to have completed an advanced degree in law (Dr. iur.) or an equivalent academic qualification (PhD, doctorat en droit).
They should demonstrate a great interest and curiosity for fundamental research and have a high potential to develop excellence in academic research.
They should have the linguistic skills to evolve in a multilingual environment : fluency in English is compulsory (in written and oral), further language skills (in French and German notably) will be considered an advantage.

Salary and social benefits are provided according to the Luxembourgish legal requirements. Positions are full-time and presence in our premises in Luxembourg is required during working time.
The two-year contract is renewable, up-to five years. Starting date is 1st October 2020 or asap after.
