ROLE

The Procurement Manager, Category Manager owns the strategic relationship with suppliers and internal stakeholders while cultivating communication and collaboration within and across organizational boundaries.

He / she identifies and leads strategic sourcing activities to lower overall total cost of ownership for Amazon operations, ensuring equipment and service availability to meet business owner requirements while minimizing business risks.

The Procurement Manager, Category Manager will deliver results with a high degree of Ethics, Integrity and Passion ensuring compliance and transparency to business policies.

He / she develops and negotiates framework agreements to reduce risk and support local teams in projects specific needs relevant to category.

He / she supports development and implementation of business plans with cross-functional partners to define supplier strategy, and owning supplier relationship management through Scorecarding of KPIs, customer service, stocking levels, and other business critical metrics.

The Procurement Manager, Category Manager supports the business by acting as a trusted advisor in strategic sourcing and procurement initiatives.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Establish category sourcing strategies, lead cross-functional strategic sourcing teams, negotiate with suppliers and execute contracts to optimize Amazon’s competitive position
  • Own the end to end strategic sourcing process,
  • Drive appropriate commercial relationships with key suppliers, with a principal objective of achieving the lowest total cost of ownership that meets the business’ goals supported by a culture of continuous improvement with cost & performance benchmarks in use
  • Manage category suppliers to proactively identify, monitor and optimize opportunities
  • Supplier’s seniors escalation point
  • Develop scoring models and vendor performance scorecards,
  • Lead market intelligence regarding categories, anticipate strategic opportunities and keep key stakeholders informed
  • Ability to steer and drive specifications / requirements gathering,
  • Analyze industry trends and evolving technology
  • Drive Supplier Relationship and Performance Management activities to add value to Amazon operations
  • Identify, achieve and report on savings and benefits targets for category sourcing activities
  • Lead sourcing engagements, as well as sourcing teams, and identify new opportunities and RFXs, where appropriate,
  • Master your categories TCO,
  • Analyze and determine opportunities to leverage and consolidate the supply base, using smart analytical tools and techniques,
  • Develop negotiation strategies to deliver against business objectives, while maintaining sustainable, healthy relationships with suppliers,
  • Evaluate supplier core competencies and competitive positioning, using industry cost models,
  • Implement supplier agreements / contracts, by working with cross-functional stakeholders and suppliers.
  • Develop and introduce smart and innovative SLA / KPI for categories under your scope,
  • Partner and act as a trusted advisors with the senior business / functional stakeholders
  • Ensure that sourcing strategies reduce Amazon risk exposure (operational disruptions, service quality, reputation, etc )
  • Drive the due diligence with legal and tax teams,
  • Coordinate and collaborate with local procurement teams to deploy and manage the implementation of defined strategies,
  • Own the category playbook,
  • Act as procurement SME for categories under your responsibility
  • BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Strong influencing and negotiation skills
  • Strong numerical and analytical aptitude
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Category / commodity sourcing experience
  • High motivation to learn, develop and perform in a fast-paced environment,
  • Very strong at project management,
  • Exposed to continuous improvement concepts
  • A passionate self-starter, able to thrive in an ambiguous environment,
  • Familiarity with procurement systems and financial applications, e.g. Oracle and COUPA,
  • Excellent Microsoft Excel skills, alongside willingness to learn proprietary systems,
  • Experience with metrics creation and data presentation
  • Hands-on experience of strategic sourcing methodologies and / or category management processes,
  • Proven track record of cultivating strong relationships with suppliers and stakeholders,
  • Possess the ability to manage multiple, simultaneous transformational projects requiring frequent communication, organization / time management and problem-solving skills,
  • Good level of contract knowledge

  • EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's, Master's degree or MBA
  • 5 years’ minimum professional experience in a sourcing or equivalent role
  • Up to 40%
