Your Role

This is a fully funded position for 3 years (extendable to an additional 4th year) within a large, national research project ( RISOTTI R econfigurable I ntelligent S urfaces f O r Smar T Ci TI es).

The objectives of the PhD project are defined in accordance with the project directions. More precisely, the PhD project aims at resource allocation techniques as well as linear and non-linear precoding techniques for mobile multihop reconfigurable intelligent surfaces (RIS).

Here, the objective will be to determine the optimal design techniques and optimization methods for joint active and passive multihop relaying.

These techniques will be further enhanced in order to operate in large wireless networks with system requirements according to the envisioned concept of Smart Cities.

The successful candidate will work under the academic supervision of Prof. Ottersten (University of Luxembourg) and join a strong and motivated research team of SnT.

The position holder will be required to perform the following tasks :

  • Contribute to the national project RISOTTI
  • Project website : RISOTTI
  • Carry out research in the predefined areas
  • Disseminate results through scientific publications
  • Present results in well-known international conferences and workshops
  • Your Profile

    The candidate should possess a Master degree in Electronic Engineering, Computer Science or similar.

    The ideal candidate should have knowledge and experience in the following topics :

  • Strong background on signal processing for wireless communications
  • Background on beamforming / precoding for multiuser wireless networks
  • Optimization techniques and tools
  • Resource allocation techniques
  • Machine learning and statistical inference
  • Strong programming skills in MATLAB, C / C++ or Python
  • Language Skills : Fluent written and verbal communication skills in English are required.
