The Faculty of Law, Economics and Finance of the University of Luxembourg has an opening for a

Doctoral Researcher (PhD student) in Logistics and Supply Chain Management (M / F)

  • Ref : F2-50010853 (to be mentioned in all correspondence)
  • Fixed-term 14 months initial contract, extendable to 36 months (or 48 months in exceptional cases)
  • Full-time position, 40h / week
  • Employee and student status
  • Your Role

  • will be working within the Centre for Logistics and Supply Chain Management (LCL) that is part of the MIT global Supply Chain And Logistics Excellence (SCALE) network
  • is expected to contribute to research projects of the centre. Some of these projects are carried out in collaboration with industry partners
  • is required to complete course work at the University of Luxembourg and / or courses at MIT or another SCALE centre
  • is expected to prepare a doctoral thesis consisting of original and innovative research that is publishable in leading international journals.
  • The primary thesis supervisor will be an LCL faculty member, but the LCL encourages the doctoral candidate to carry out joint research with international scholars

  • may have the opportunity to conduct an international research stay
  • will contribute to the teaching of classes (small group teachings and tutorials) ranging from one to three hours per week

    Your Profile

  • Outstanding Master’s degree in Operations Research or related fields (, Industrial Engineering, Business Administration with Operations Research minor)
  • Skills and knowledge in optimization software (, OPL / CPLEX), programming languages (, C++, Java), mathematical software (, Maple, Mathematica, Matlab) and / or Statistics software (, Stata, R)
  • Good command of English
