Future wireless networks will have to address stringent requirements of delivering content at high speed and low latency due to the proliferation of mobile devices and data-
hungry applications. Various network architectures, e.g., cloud radio access networks and heterogeneous networks, have been proposed in order to boost the network throughput and reduce transmission latency, even though traffic congestion might occur during peak hours due to a significant unbalance in content request distribution.
An effective solution to reduce latency and costs of content delivery is to bring the content closer to end users via distributed storages at edge nodes, which is known as caching.
However, in order to reap full benefit of caching in the 5G context, it requires designing novel proactive caching algorithms to deal with dynamic network topology and content preference.
