The Senior VAT Compliance Officer is responsible for the timely and correct handling of matters concerning either the day-today tax compliance requirements of the clients, including correspondence and other communication with clients, third parties and TMF teams.
Liaising with tax authorities, external advisors and clients
Taking ownership of non-complex client files and gain ownership of complex client files
Supporting the Manager in day-to-day planning, operation and problem solving of the team
Proactive involvement in the development of the department regarding indirect tax compliance business (preparation of fee proposals, involvement in the development of tools, procedures and supporting documents)
Optimizing client follow up, time management and processes and plan the work with Manager
Maintaining and ensuring the high quality of services and communication
Anticipating client needs by performing tax analysis and developing strong technical research capabilities
Delegating client work to Junior Officers and Officers, monitoring and ensuring their professional development by providing constant feedback
Guiding, coaching and supervising new or less experienced team members
Managing problems or complex technical matters reported by the team members
Meeting own chargeability target and ensure it is met by Junior Officers and Officers
Executing all the necessary to have TMF Group and clients perform according to Compliance and AML rules
Working closely and effectively with the teams
Adhere to internal policies and procedures
Taking ownership of own development by following required and relevant trainings
Bachelor’s degree (or University degree) in accounting, finance or tax. A specialization in taxation is an advantage
Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in VAT tax compliance in Luxembourg or another EU member state, preferably in an accounting or tax advisory firm with international environment.
understanding of Luxembourg tax structures will be an advantage
Excellent analytical and organizational skills
Excellent English written and verbal communication is required. Knowledge of German or Luxembourgish would be an advantage.
Good IT skills and excellent command of MS Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) are necessary
You will also demonstrate extraordinary commitment to provide excellent service, self-initiative and team spirit (willing to coach junior colleagues)
Cycle B diploma or corresponding diploma (or the commitment to get it) is an advantage
Excellent understanding of accounting, tax and legal documents
