Job Description

The Local Finance Controller will provide support across the region to the Regional Finance Controller and will take specific responsibility for managing, advising and supporting the French speaking entities in terms of Balance Sheet, P&L and any financial and audit matters / issues.

The successful candidate is responsible to ensure that internal controls and group policies are applied in order to ensure that the region’s assets are protected and adequately monitored.

He / she is recognized internally as specialist on complex technical and financial or tax matters.

Main activities : Controlling

Controlling

  • Manage the financials of the companies and ensure that all internal controls and financial policies set by the group are applied and adhered to;
  • Work actively with the business controllers; improve the visibility and importance of Finance within the region, ensuring buy-in from all other operational areas;
  • Ensure that internal and external reporting requirements are met;
  • Monitor regional spending against approved budget;
  • Ensure an efficient cooperation with the finance function within the SSC;
  • Ad hoc projects as required by region or group finance.
  • Accounting

  • Work actively with the business controllers; improve the visibility and importance of Finance within the region, ensuring buy-in from all other operational areas;
  • Ensure that internal and external reporting requirements are met;
  • Monitor regional spending against approved budget;
  • Ensure the correct P&L and BS position of the entities on a monthly basis;
  • Ensure an efficient cooperation with the finance function within the SSC;
  • Ad hoc projects as required by region or group finance.
  • Tax Compliance

  • Ensure direct and indirect tax compliance within the region;
  • Setup / close / merge entities within the region if required by the company and liaise with lawyers, Treasury and Tax to achieve this.
  • Skills and qualifications :

  • Qualified Accountant with minimum five years’ experience in Finance / Controlling / Accounting, preferably in a multinational company in the IT / Software Business environment
  • University degree in Finance, Business Administration or equivalent
  • French GAAP knowledge and IFRS knowledge (mandatory)
  • Previous audit or tax experience (preferably Big 4 trained)
  • In depth understanding of Finance and Business Control requirements in an IT / Software Business environment
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office suite of applications, particularly Excel
  • Knowledge of Oracle 11i is a strong asset
  • Regular travel to Paris office
  • Fluency in English and French is required; any additional language is considered an asset
  • Key skills : the ability to work autonomously in a multi-cultural environment, the desire to drive change and ensure improvement, a strong team spirit and a pro-active attitude are imperative
