Principal Category Manager Content

Location Luxembourg

Content is one of the key strategic growth opportunities for Vodafone. In most of our markets we already offer Content propositions to our customers, including linear TV, Video-on-Demand and Over-the-Top services.

The recent acquisition of Liberty Global’s businesses in 4 European markets will further strengthen our position as a major global player in this area.

The successful candidate will be working as part of a newly created central Content procurement team, reporting to a Head of Category.

You will be responsible for leading part of the team (3-5 people) and co-managing Vodafone’s Content acquisition globally, with responsibility for certain types of Content (e.

g. linear TV, video on demand etc.) and / or geographies. The Content scope currently covers 10+ markets with a total annual spend of over €1 billion and it is expected to grow further.

You will

  • Develop acquisition, sourcing strategies and plans required enabling the global and local Content business strategy
  • Provide relevant inputs into Content business strategies, roadmaps, plans and budgeting & forecasting process and lead the central negotiations
  • Drive centralisation of Content spend into VPC while delivering measurable benefits to local markets
  • Lead and develop a team and build and effectively manage a large international cross-functional virtual team
  • Drive the innovation of commercial and contracting models working with the Content teams and Content providers and maintain accurate global Content spend, vendor and contract data, generate and provide insight through in-depth analytics
  • It would be nice if you have

  • Change management mindset with successfully initiating and implementing several major change programmes in challenging environments
  • Demonstrable track record of building and leading high performing teams including virtual teams
  • Previously built and scaled up new line of business within a global organisation
  • Track record of getting stakeholders with diverse interests and background aligned and work collaboratively towards common goals
  • You must have

  • Content acquisition / sourcing experience in either Linear TV, Video-on-Demand, or Over-the-Top is an absolute must, preferably on a regional or global level
  • A proven track record of successfully negotiating complex multi-territory Content acquisition deals with clearly identified benefits
  • Experience in the telecommunications or digital entertainment industry or a previous role at a Content provider
  • Deep understanding of sourcing and procurement disciplines and strong commercial and negotiation skills
  • Strategic thinking with the ability and appetite to influence wider business strategies #groupresourcing
