Amazon is seeking a German Localization Editor to join our Amazon Device Software Editorial team. We are responsible for editing and localising software (graphical and voice user interfaces) and marketing, technical and legal documentation across multiple Amazon devices Alexa, Fire TV, Kindle E-Reader, Fire Tablet and Ring as well as upcoming undisclosed devices.
In this role, you will work closely with other editors, program managers, localisation and quality assurance engineers to deliver a best-in-class product experience to our German customers.
The position will be based in Luxembourg.
Own German linguistic quality for the group's products and services.
Drive the development of style guides and translation memories, lead terminology discussions with internal stakeholders and give direction to our external vendors.
Work with localisation program managers, localisation vendors, quality assurance engineers and tool development teams to ensure expected linguistic quality and launch criteria are met.
Engage with in-country corporate and partner teams to understand and address German-language localisation issues.
Plan, monitor and implement changes to ensure all linguistic quality assurance tasks are completed.
Native fluency in German (Germany) is required
Ability to translate from English into German
Bachelor's Degree in translation, linguistics, or technical communications with a focus on German, or a related field plus three years’ experience in the offered job or related occupation
German software localisation, translation or writing / editing experience
Technical experience with localisation and terminology platforms and tools such as Alchemy Catalyst, memoQ, SDL Studio or Passolo
Demonstrated project management, problem-solving and organisational experience
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Master’s degree in translation
Working knowledge of one or more other European languages (such as French, Spanish or Italian) is preferred
Ability to conceptualise and execute projects, with strong bias for action and ability to prioritise and meet deadlines
Knowledge of VBA, Python or another programming language a plus
Experience working in an editorial team supporting multiple languages
