Amazon is looking for a Software Development Engineer in Luxembourg

Amazon is looking for an outstanding Software Development Engineer to join the Amazon Customer Fulfilment Operations Finance BI team.

The successful applicant will leverage his or her deep technical knowledge to address real-world business challenges in the areas of pan-EU operations.

Within the EU Amazon Operations Finance BI team you will be working with one of the world’s largest and most complex data environments, helping to turn trillions of rows of data into detailed and actionable metrics and analysis.

You’ll be helping build and improve the infrastructure within a Ruby-on-Rails and Python frameworks, leveraging your technical expertise in conjunction with the business knowledge of our operations partners.

Your Responsibilities :

  • Primary role is designing, building, maintaining user-friendly and intuitive Web applications, allowing users to see the top level story and drive to actionable details.
  • Secondary role in supporting and improving the existing data architecture, optimizing data handling and performance within Redshift, MSSQL / MySQL and related environments
  • Coaching and mentoring less experienced developers on best practice and industry standards
  • Working closely with business-facing teams to create new analytical frameworks as new challenges arise.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field, or 4+ year relevant work experience.
  • 3+ years professional experience in software development.
  • Computer Science fundamentals in object-oriented design.
  • Computer Science fundamentals in data structures.
  • Computer Science fundamentals in algorithm design, problem solving, and complexity analysis.
  • Proficiency in, at least, one modern programming language such as Ruby on Rails, PHP, or Java
  • Excellent communication skills both verbally and written in English.

  • Database management, Redshift, MSSQL, MySQL.
  • Web dev : Ruby on Rails, PHP, Python or Javascript.
  • Git or other distributed version control system.
  • Linux, Apache, Windows.
  • Unit tests, performance workload tests.
  • Agile methods.
  • System hardware architecture (Servers, redundancy, backups, performance analysis).
