We apply machine learning, operations research, analytics, and commons sense to large volumes of data and against a wide spectrum of problems.
In particular, the Sales & Operations Planning Automation team is paving the way towards an optimized and automated planning of European operations.
As a Business Intelligence Engineer, you will help identify opportunities and implement solutions to improve systems, processes, and tools.
You will be responsible for analyzing complex problems and discovering insights through the use of data mining and visualization techniques.
Further, you will help automate processes by developing deep-dive tools, UIs, metrics, and dashboards to communicate these insights in real time to multiple teams.
Successful members of this team collaborate effectively with internal end-users, cross-functional software development teams, and operations teams to solve problems, and implement new solutions.
The complexity of challenges and skills for this role is well beyond basic data entry and research. It involves complex analysis and diving deep into key metrics based on requests, building and maintaining multiple databases, knowledge of software applications to create tools, and understanding of multiple programming languages.
The position is based in Amazon European headquarter in Luxembourg, Europe’s most multicultural capital with 152 foreign nationalities representing 65% of its population!
The following provides some detail of the job duties and responsibilities :
Use analytical and statistical rigor to solve complex problems and drive business decisions such as planning and forecasting multi-echelon flows.
Manipulate / mine data from database tables (ex. Redshift, MySQL) using SQL to create and present VP-level insights.
Manipulate / mine data from log files by writing scripts (ex. PERL, Python)
Develop end to end data products : deep-dive tools, UIs, metrics, and dashboards to allow fast and consistent decision making at scale (Tableau, Django / CherryPy / Dash, other webframework)
Work with engineering teams to enable the appropriate capture, storage, and manipulation of data.
Master degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Math, Finance, Statistics, Engineering, or related discipline.
3+ years of experience in using advance quantitative analysis to solve business problems.
Fluency in SQL
Fluency on scripting language (e.g. Python, Perl)
Experience with any / all of the following : MySQL, AWS (incl. Redshift, EC2, S3)
Effectively communicate (written and verbal) solutions and methodologies to senior leadership
6+ years of experience in using quantitative analysis including machine learning (e.g. linear / logistics regression, decision trees) or operation research (e.g. linear programming)
Experience with BI analytics / reporting / visualization tools (preferably Tableau, Shiny, Danjo, Dash, Pentaho, d3.js)
Proven track record of building end to end data products
Familiarity with supply chain management concepts - forecasting, planning, optimization, and logistics - gained through work experience or graduate level education.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills. The role requires effective communication with senior management as well as with colleagues from operations and business backgrounds.
