Transportation & Advanced Polymers is seeking a Construction Manager to lead the construction competency for the EMEA (Europe / Middle East / Africa) region.
Location is open, but the successful candidate will be expected to support all T&AP sites throughout the region effectively.
The T&AP Engineering hub for EMEA is located at the Dordrecht site in The Netherlands.
This role will report to the EMEA Engineering Hub Leader.
Role is responsible for capital project construction execution as a part of the T&AP EMEA hub region. Networks and interacts with project teams including site operations, site maintenance leaders, design engineers, craft specialists, engineering consultants, engineering contractors, and construction and support contractors.
Accountable for construction operations and is responsible for developing and implementing construction-related solutions.
Insures effective utilization of a robust QA / QC program for capital projects that addresses both equipment fabrication and high-
quality field installation.
Focal point to insure safe execution of construction work within the hub region.
Serves as the construction lead for selected capital projects within the region as needed.
Maintains and utilizes a variety of resourcing strategies and contacts to permit selection of the most cost effective and expeditious project execution approach based on business needs.
Participates in contractor screening and assessment in conjunction with Sourcing and Contractor Administration personnel in the region.
Coaches and develops construction resources and participates in Steering Team meetings for major projects.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :
Broad and thorough knowledge of construction, engineering design interface with construction, procurement and contract administration procedures and best practices.
Experience leading capital projects as a construction leader. Able to coordinate multiple parties, overseeing the work of contractors and working effectively with 3rd party suppliers.
Ability to network with individual sites and project teams to improve capital project delivery.
Experience leading constructability reviews and analysis in conjunction with construction craft specialists and site operations personnel.
Excellent communications, planning, organizing and influence skills.
Able to lead change. Has a bias for action and a passion for continuous improvement.
Experience working with geographically dispersed teams.
An engineering degree is preferred.
Multilingual communications skills preferred.
Background in project controls.
To effectively support all small and large capital work in the EMEA region, travel of 40-50% is expected.
