As part of a Research and Technology Organization (RTO), the ERIN department tackles major environmental challenges our society is facing today such as climate change mitigation, ecosystem resilience, sustainable energy systems, efficient use of renewable resources, environmental pollution prevention and control.

To this end, the mission of the ERIN department is :

1) To conduct impact driven scientific research and development, as well as technological innovation

2) To support companies in the implementation of new environmental regulations and to advise governments on determining sustainable policies for the future, aiming :

  • The sustainable resources (water, air, soil, renewable energy, bio- resources) analysis, management and exploitation
  • The reduction of the environmental impact due to human consumption and production activities
  • Description

    The selected candidate will join the Partnership Development team of the Environmental Research and Innovation (ERIN) department of the Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST) and directly reports to the ERIN director.

    She / he supports the Department’s direction and RDI units / groups as regards market intelligence and watch, identification and concretization of business / partnership opportunities, key-

    account management, valorisation and transfer of ERIN assets as well as communication / representation with a focus on eco-

    and bio-technologies. The Partnership Officer can co-manage industrial projects.

    Tasks :

    Market intelligence and watch

  • Analyze and synthetize market trends and societal needs by researching industry / society and related events, publications, and announcements
  • Research and get informed about prospects and clients industries, trends to estimate needs and goals
  • Ensure technology watch
  • Identification of business / partnership opportunities

  • Initiate and follow-up the elaboration of a partnership and collaboration strategy together with the Department’s direction
  • Locate or propose potential business deals or partnership opportunities by contacting potential public and private partners
  • Elaborate screening strategy of business deals or partnership opportunities
  • Prepare and deliver presentations to prospects and clients
  • Build strategic and tailored collaborations
  • Actively participate to the contract review with potential new clients
  • Work on partners follow-up activities and participate to key account management
  • Co-manage industrial projects

    Communication and representation

  • Represent the RDI department in a professional manner
  • Initiate and contribute to communication events and actions of the department
  • Establish a strong external network
  • Dissemination, valorisation and transfer :

  • Accompany RDI staff in the dissemination of RDI outputs to the market
  • Accompany RDI staff in the creation of spin-offs
  • Training

  • Keep abreast of RDI domains, projects’ contents and innovation developed in their department, as well as other RTO's / R&D institutions strategies
  • Keep informed about competitors, industry, societal and technology trends
  • Maximize the participation to department’s events
  • Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks;
  • participating in professional organizations


  • PhD (or equivalent professional experience) in a scientific, technological or engineering field of relevance to eco- and bio-biotechnologies
  • An MBA is considered as an asset
  • Competencies

  • At least 10 years of experience in the broader sector of eco- and bio-technologies, among which at least 5 years direct experience in partnership and business development
  • Documented proof track record of the development of industry collaborations
  • Past experience in a Research and Technology Organization is considered as an asset
  • You demonstrate business responsiveness and a strong experience in the management of partnerships and marketing in a public research or industrial research environment
  • You are outgoing and have a strongly developed and active national / international professional network in the industry market to be covered
  • You have the capacity to forge strong relationships, to build trust with clients, drive value, develop lasting business partnerships
  • You are motivated in working in a customer-oriented technological research organization
  • Language

  • Excellent command of English
  • Excellent knowledge of German and French is considered as a strong asset
