Job Background / Context :

Citi’s Global Fund Services Operation comprises Fund Accounting, Middle Office and Transfer Agency and is supported by ca.

3,000 staff, globally. Our EMEA Market Data Analysis forms part of EMEA Asset Pricing, and consequently of EMEA Fund Accounting and Global Fund Services.

The Head of EMEA Market Data Analysis has direct responsibility for market data vendor budget of about $11 MM yearly.

Job Purpose :

  • Thought leader for the design, development and implementation of the market data consumption and billing for all vendors servicing EMEA clients;
  • Development and implementation of a demand scheduler across EMEA to monitor the functional, location and client consumption of market data;
  • Identification of saving initiatives the definition of the strategies to achieve costs reduction goals as agreed with the functional head of pricing;
  • The origination of rationale for the re-billing of such costs to clients wherever possible;
  • Key Responsibilities : Market data consumption

    Market data consumption

  • GFS owner of vendor cost analyses and allocation keys for product and operations senior management, MDS counterparts and procurement.
  • Business analyst for EMEA / Global / Local allocation keys.
  • Maintain a strong knowledge of market data vendors (Bloomberg, Reuters, IDS, Markit, Six Financial) with their product offering and clear fee schedule understanding.
  • Create a multi-year roadmap for MDS savings and implement corresponding saving initiatives by using the required project management skills in partnership with operational teams across EMEA.
  • Support senior management data requests within aggressive timescale.
  • Excellent understanding of the business and the static data requirements.
  • Identify best use and best practice of static data in the business.
  • Implement static data initiative in regards to Citi preferred vendors and quantify the cost impact.
  • Set-up the process, procedures and train the staff when required in terms of static data capture.
  • Promote the EMEA reporting / analysis to APAC.
  • Develop new tools to analyze / control the vendor’s consumption.
  • Provide all vendor with usage reporting as per defined in contracts.
  • Out of pocket (OOP) expenses for market data

  • Define the calculation methodology by vendor / service and liaise with Head of Pricing and Product for approved.
  • Communicate progress to Product and obtain sponsorship for the project prioritization.
  • Document BRD’s for any required developments for automation.
  • Agree with Product the clients to be billed.
  • Define and formalize the invoicing process to clients.
  • Calculate the billing for OOP in an agreed frequency.
  • Financial :

  • Review on a monthly basis EMEA GFS MDS costs and on ad-hoc basis upon request.
  • Challenge were required the financial numbers to the MDS group, and ensure actual and budget figures are aligned.
  • Prepare yearly budgets with the MDS spent oversight group.
  • Knowledge / Experience :

  • 10 years + domain experience across GFS (Fund Accounting, Middle Office, Trustee, Performance Measurement) at an operational level
  • Relevant industry experience working in fund services
  • Extensive people management experience in an operations environment
  • Qualifications :

  • Educated to degree standard or equivalent;
  • Professional industry qualifications would be advantageous, but not essential;
