The Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST) is looking for a postdoctoral researcher in the Business Analytics and Regulatory Technologies Unit.
The unit is part of IT for Innovative Services department (ITIS) of more than 100 highly skilled researchers and engineers from various disciplines, addressing technological, organisational, human, and economic aspects of innovative IT services.
You will also contribute to the development of the Finance Innovation Technology and Systems Centre (FITS), whose mission is to fill a significant gap in applied research and innovation for the Financial Services industry in Luxembourg and related ecosystems, including the ICT sector.
We are looking for a talented, hardworking and very motivated candidate who has a combination of Legal (e.g. financial laws), Business education (processes and practices, much preferably in Financial Services settings) and Computer Science related skills.
PhD in Law, or PhD in Legal Informatics or PhD in Computational Law or PhD in any other closely business related areas
Legal competencies (minimal requirements) :
Possessing foundational knowledge of the legal jurisprudence, legal system and legal information sources
Ability to critically evaluate legal financial instruments and information in order to effectively resolve a specific applied research need
Ability to detect legal and illegal (including ethical and unethical) uses of legal information and the legal issues related with discovery, use, combination and application of legal information
Knowledge on EU single digital market, EU Single Rulebook or other legal instruments for financial domain and various ICTs used in legal domain, e.
g. in court, parliaments, law firms and computer forensics etc.
Application of Information Systems and Computer Science in legal domain related competencies (minimal requirements) :
Relevant experiences and proven competencies in the application of any of following fields - legal information system, legal knowledge base modelling, legal knowledge visualization, legal semantic web, legal ontologies, legal reasoning engine development, Legislative XML, LegalRuleML and LgealDocumentML / AkomaNtoso standard etc.
Basic know-how on the usage of various NLP (Machine / deep learning approaches) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) techniques in legal domain
Strong knowledge on eGovernment, eParliament, legal analytics and logic formulation for legal reasoning etc.
Proficiency in English
