Senior Technician, IT Operations
The position is directly responsible for the Monitoring, Operation and Support of the global SES IT install base. The incumbent will work in close collaboration with the Service Desk and the IT Service Delivery Engineering teams.
Install, operate and support the global SES IT Infrastructure : Networking (LAN / WAN / DNS / Wireless / Datacenter with strong focus on Cisco) Security (Firewalls / VPN / Loadbalancing / System security / Proxy / AAA)
Proactively monitor the SES internal IT Infrastructure through enterprise monitoring tools (Spectrum, Nageos, Weathermap, Cisco Prime, HP Openview, Netbrain, )
Perform troubleshooting and identify bottlenecks to ensure long term efficiency of the network
Provide support to internal and external customers for clarification of technical matters and the resolution of technical issues
Inspect LAN infrastructure and fix minor problems / bugs
Ensure maturity improvement and adherence of / to all IT Service Management processes, including change management
Maintain standards and standard operating procedures
Actively participate in answering / resolving Problem Tickets
Work actively with the incident management tool
Work actively with the Service Desk to help create troubleshooting procedures for common issues
Help create knowledge base articles for common issues and for user self-help portal
Stay up-to-date with state-of-the-art IT concepts and technologies
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Business Information Systems or equivalent
Minimum three to five years of applicable professional experience in a large heterogeneous environment
Sound technical understanding of the IT landscape and related technical skills
Hands-on experience with Cisco network devices, Fortinet & Checkpoint
Knowledge or hands-on experience with F5 load balancers and Bluecoat proxy servers an advantage
Broad knowledge of Information Security and knowledge of the specificities of the satellite industry
Broad understanding of all technologies covered in the IT Operations group and of Operational Principles
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to integrate into cross-functional and / or virtual project teams
Proactive approach towards potential and / or current customers
Ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision
Knowledge in key areas of Information Security combined with willingness and strong drive to learn and master new topics as they emerge
Ability to learn new technologies quickly
Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to establish well-written, structured documents (e.g. concepts, policies)
Ability to understand business requirements and all stakeholders in the Service Delivery process
Fluency in English, any other language is considered as an asset
Willingness to travel internationally
NATO / EU SECRET clearances are considered a strong asset. Candidate must be willing to undergo a security clearance procedure as this position might require holding security clearances
