We are growing our launch team and looking for someone passionate about launch who will help ensure we continue to execute as a leader in the small satellite industry.
Our Mission Manager will work closely with global launch companies and our satellite engineering team to ensure that satellites meet launch requirements and are delivered on time.
Launch touches almost every part of the company, interfacing with engineering and manufacturing as well as satellite operations, finance, legal and logistics.
The right candidate works well in a high pace, loosely structured and high pressure environment and will help create and improve processes for the launch team as Spire grows as a company.
Responsibilities for your role :
Be Spire's main interface to technical mission management teams at global launch service providers
Manage launch campaigns from contract signing to delivery and integration of spacecraft
Create and manage the Interface Control Drawing (ICD) and ensure Spire meets all design and interface requirements
Coordinate with Engineering & Manufacturing to ensure that all launch requirements are satisfied
Responsible for ensuring timely completion of all technical deliverables associated with the launch campaign
Manage launch schedule and tightly coordinate with all internal stakeholders to ensure satellites are delivered on time for launch
Coordinate with legal team to obtain all required licensing and insurance required for a launch campaign
Coordinate milestone reviews and technical interchange meetings as needed with internal stakeholders and launch providers
Ensure orbital parameters are coordinated with Satellite Operations team and JSpOC
Identify and mitigate any risks associated with satellite production, regulatory items, launch schedule, etc; create contingency plans
Coordinate any visas or registration required for employees or VIPs to attend launches
Travel as needed to support launch related events (milestone reviews, fit checks, integration, etc)
Qualifications / Experience :
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
Working knowledge of orbits, spacecraft design and the launch industry
Working knowledge of ITAR, Export control, regulatory framework for launch and satellite operation
Experience working with contracts and requirements documents (ICDs)
Experience working in a cross-disciplinary teams or program management
Good communication skills
Strong candidates will also possess skills in at least one of the following areas :
Working knowledge of launch vehicle environments and interfaces with spacecraft
Experience working directly on launch campaigns would be looked at favorably
